1 in 3 S’Pore Workers Report Facing Work-Related Stress/Burnout: Data from MOM Online Tool (2025)

In Singapore, approximately 3 out of 1000 employees reported work-related stress or burnout in 2024, according to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) using a free online assessment tool. This data highlights the growing concern over mental well-being among workers. However, the survey’s findings raise questions about potential limitations in the tool’s accuracy. As an optional measure, employers can take the iWorkHealth assessment, but critics argue that the results may not fully reflect the broader workforce or specific industries. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Shawn Huang emphasized that while such challenges exist, they are often manageable through supportive environments. He noted that the proportion of workers reporting stress or burnout has remained stable since the introduction of iWorkHealth in March 2021, which involved collaboration between MOM, the Workplace Safety and Health Council, the Institute of Mental Health, and Changi General Hospital. Additionally, the ministry works with labor unions and employers to promote the adoption of iWorkHealth, aiming to provide better support for employees' mental well-being. Huang highlighted the importance of career planning, stating that sustainable careers reduce the risk of stress or burnout. An example of such initiatives includes the Career Health Singapore initiative, launched under the SkillsFuture movement, which helps individuals identify opportunities for training, learning, and career transitions. To further assist workers, MOM collaborates with partners to offer resources and guidance on creating safe spaces for open conversations, as well as workshops focused on workplace well-being. These efforts underscore the need for both employer and employee engagement in fostering a healthier work environment.
