26 Vegan American Classic Recipes
Yield: 6 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
American food combines ballpark favorites, fruit-filled pies, and comfort dishes. These vegan American classics include apple pie, mac and cheese, tater tots, lobster rolls, and crab cakes.
Ingredients
Vegan burger patties
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1.5 cups finely chopped mushrooms
- 1.5 cups black beans
- 1 cup cooked rice
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Once hot, add onions and mushrooms. Cook for 5-8 minutes or until soft.
- Add beans, rice, spices, and nuts. Stir until well combined.
- Transfer to a food processor and pulse a few times to combine. Don’t overdo it, or it will turn mushy!
- Adjust to taste preferences, then form patties with your hands.
- If the texture is it’s too crumbly, add some water. If it’s too wet, add more of the dry ingredients you used.
- Line up the patties on a baking sheet. Put them in a preheated oven at 350 °F (180 °C) for 15 minutes, flip over, and bake for another 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can fry the patties in oil using a skillet — this will only take 3-5 minutes for each side.
- Serve warm on your favorite bun alongside your favorite vegan burger fixings!
Notes
- Feel free to add lots of delicious spices like soy sauce, paprika, pepper, and anything else you like.
