Before we kick this off, if you’re looking for ways to make extra money, here are some websites/resources to check out:

  • Cliqly: Make money emailing. You sign up for free and get access to 5,000 emails to send pre-written emails to, from the start. There are affiliates that start making up to $10K to $20K per month within a few months of starting affiliate marketing but, everyone’s experience is different and these results are not typical.Check out my free ebookto learn more about how affiliate marketing works and how to get started with it.
  • Neighbor: This is a chance to earn income passively by monetizing your unused storage space. If you’ve got extra closet space, a spare bedroom, attic, garage, or other space in your home, you can rent it out and store other people’s goods there for passive income every month.

How Do Websites That Pay for Articles Work?

If you have a talent for writing, there are many websites that pay for articles. Writing for these websites can be a great way to earn extra income or even make a full-time living as a freelance writer. However, it's important to understand how these websites work before you start submitting articles.

First, it's important to note that not all websites that pay for articles are created equal. Some websites pay very low rates, while others pay much higher rates. Some websites have strict guidelines for submissions, while others are more flexible. It's important to research each website and understand their payment rates, guidelines, and requirements before submitting any articles.

When submitting articles to websites that pay for content, it's important to follow their guidelines carefully. Many websites have specific requirements for article length, formatting, and style. Some websites may also require you to submit a pitch or proposal before submitting a full article. Make sure you read and understand all guidelines before submitting your work.

Another important factor to consider when writing for websites that pay for content is the rights to your work. Some websites may require you to give up all rights to your article, while others may allow you to retain some rights. Make sure you understand the terms of your agreement before submitting any work.

Overall, writing for websites that pay for articles can be a great way to earn income as a freelance writer. However, it's important to do your research and understand the guidelines and requirements of each website before submitting any work. With the right approach, you can build a successful career as a freelance writer and earn a steady income from your writing.

Types of Websites That Pay for Articles

If you're a writer looking to make some extra money, there are plenty of websites that pay for articles. Here are some of the most common types of websites that pay for articles:

Blogging Websites

Blogging websites are a great place to start if you're just getting into writing for pay. These sites are often run by individuals or small teams, and they're looking for fresh content on a regular basis. You can find blogging websites that cover just about any topic you can think of, from parenting to travel to finance.

Some blogging websites pay a flat fee per article, while others pay based on the traffic your article generates. One popular blogging website that pays for articles is Medium, which pays writers based on the number of "claps" their articles receive.

Don't forget, you can start your own money-making blog. That's a great option for making an online income. Top bloggers like Adam Enfroy make up to six figures per month blogging.

Freelance Writing Websites

Freelance writing websites are another great option for writers looking to get paid for their work. These sites typically connect writers with clients who are looking for content on a specific topic. Some freelance writing websites, such as Upwork and Freelancer, allow writers to bid on projects and set their own rates.

One of the advantages of freelance writing websites is that they often have a large pool of clients, so there's always work available. However, the competition can be fierce, so it's important to have a strong portfolio and be able to write on a variety of topics.

Content Mills

Content mills are websites that pay writers a small fee for each article they write. These sites are often criticized for their low pay rates, but they can be a good option for writers who are just starting out or who want to build up their portfolio.

One popular content mill is Textbroker, which pays writers based on their skill level. Another option is iWriter, which pays writers based on the length and complexity of the article.

Online Magazines

Online magazines are another great option for writers looking to get paid for their work. These sites often pay more than blogging websites or content mills, but they also have higher standards for the quality of the content they publish.

Online magazines typically have a specific focus, such as technology, health, or fashion. Some popular online magazines that pay for articles include The Atlantic, Slate, and Salon.

In conclusion, there are many different types of websites that pay for articles, each with their own pros and cons. Whether you're just starting out or you're an experienced writer, there's sure to be a website that's a good fit for your skills and interests.

How to Approach These Websites

If you're interested in getting paid to write articles, there are a few things you should keep in mind when approaching websites that pay for content. Here are some tips to help you get started:

Creating a Portfolio

Before you start pitching to websites, it's important to have a portfolio of writing samples that showcase your skills and expertise. Your portfolio should include a variety of pieces that demonstrate your ability to write in different styles and on different topics.

Writing a Pitch

When you're ready to start pitching to websites, it's important to craft a pitch that is tailored to the publication and demonstrates your understanding of their audience and content. Take the time to research the website and read their submission guidelines before reaching out.

Your pitch should be concise and engaging, highlighting your unique perspective and expertise on the topic you're proposing. Be sure to include a brief bio that highlights your relevant experience and qualifications.

Understanding Submission Guidelines

Each website that pays for content will have its own submission guidelines, which may include specific requirements for formatting, word count, and style. It's important to carefully review these guidelines before submitting your work to ensure that you are meeting all of the requirements.

Some websites may also have specific topics or themes that they are looking for, so be sure to review their editorial calendar or recent content to get a sense of what they are interested in publishing. Following these guidelines and demonstrating your ability to write in the style and tone of the publication can increase your chances of getting accepted and paid for your work.

Overall, approaching websites that pay for content requires a combination of research, skill, and persistence. By creating a strong portfolio, crafting engaging pitches, and following submission guidelines, you can increase your chances of success and start earning money for your writing.

Benefits of Writing for Paying Websites

If you enjoy writing and want to turn your passion into a lucrative career, writing for paying websites is an excellent option. Not only can you earn money for your work, but you can also build a writing portfolio and network with other writers and industry professionals.

Income Potential

One of the primary benefits of writing for paying websites is the income potential. While the pay rates vary depending on the website and the type of content you produce, many websites pay writers anywhere from $50 to $200 or more per article. Some websites even pay writers on a per-word basis, which can be a great way to earn more money for longer articles.

Building a Writing Portfolio

Another benefit of writing for paying websites is the opportunity to build a writing portfolio. As you write for different websites, you can showcase your work and demonstrate your writing skills to potential clients or employers. This can be especially helpful if you want to pursue a career in writing, as having a portfolio of published work can make you a more attractive candidate to employers.

Networking Opportunities

Finally, writing for paying websites can provide networking opportunities that can help you grow your career. Many websites have communities of writers and industry professionals who share tips, advice, and job opportunities. By participating in these communities, you can connect with other writers and learn from their experiences. You may even be able to land new writing gigs or other opportunities through these connections.

In conclusion, writing for paying websites can be a great way to earn money, build a writing portfolio, and network with other writers and industry professionals. While it may take some time and effort to find the right websites and opportunities, the rewards can be well worth it in the end.

Potential Challenges

As with any job, writing for websites that pay for articles comes with its own set of challenges. In this section, we'll explore some of the potential challenges you may face and how to overcome them.

Rejection

One of the biggest challenges you may face when writing for websites that pay for articles is rejection. It's important to remember that rejection is not a reflection of your worth as a writer. Instead, it's an opportunity to learn and grow as a writer.

To minimize the chances of rejection, make sure you thoroughly research the website and their content before submitting your article. This will give you a better understanding of the type of content they publish and their writing style.

If your article is rejected, don't take it personally. Instead, take the opportunity to learn from the experience. Try to get feedback from the editor on why your article was rejected and use that feedback to improve your writing.

Copyright Issues

Another potential challenge when writing for websites that pay for articles is copyright issues. Make sure you only submit original content that you have the legal right to publish. Plagiarism is not only unethical, but it can also result in legal action being taken against you.

To avoid copyright issues, make sure you properly cite any sources you use in your article. This includes both direct quotes and paraphrased information. Additionally, make sure you have permission to use any images or other media in your article.

Payment Delays

Finally, payment delays can be a potential challenge when writing for websites that pay for articles. Make sure you understand the payment terms before submitting your article. Some websites may pay on publication, while others may pay on a set schedule.

To minimize payment delays, make sure you submit all required paperwork and invoices in a timely manner. Additionally, make sure you keep track of all your submissions and payments to ensure you are paid in a timely manner.

Overall, writing for websites that pay for articles can be a rewarding experience, but it's important to be aware of the potential challenges you may face. By being prepared and proactive, you can overcome these challenges and succeed as a freelance writer.

Bottom Line

You now have a list of websites that pay for articles. Keep in mind that each website has its own set of guidelines and requirements, so make sure to read them carefully before submitting your work. Additionally, pay rates can vary widely depending on the website and the type of content they are looking for.

When submitting your work, make sure to follow the submission guidelines closely and proofread your work before submitting. A well-crafted article that meets the website's requirements is more likely to be accepted and paid for.

Remember that getting paid to write articles takes time and effort, but it can be a rewarding way to earn extra income and build your writing portfolio. Don't be discouraged if you don't get accepted right away - keep honing your writing skills and trying new websites until you find the right fit.

Finally, keep in mind that while these websites can be a great way to earn money, they should not be your only source of income. Consider diversifying your income streams by exploring other freelance opportunities or creating your own content to sell. With dedication and hard work, you can turn your writing skills into a successful career.
