How to get answers for edX courses? ›

You can get help from course moderators and peers in the discussion forum within your course. That's the best place to ask questions about assignments, grades, and other course content.

The course title (sometimes also called the course name) and number are important identifiers for your course. It is a good idea to use titles and numbers that are easy to understand and remember. The course enrollment track specifies the type of certificate, if any, that the course offers.

A clear title makes it easy for people to find your course and start learning. A title that is too generic, such as “Introduction to Business,” will make your course seem like it is not worth taking. On the other hand, a title that is specific, such as “How to Make a Million Dollars in Your Spare Time,” sounds good.

There are no academic penalties associated with not finishing a course on edX. If you cannot complete a course, you have several options. If you are enrolled in the audit track of a course, you can simply stop taking the course. There is no need to unenroll.

Each course team sets a fixed number of attempts on each graded assignment. Once you've used up all available attempts on an assignment, it isn't possible to retake the assignment. It's also not possible to reset your Progress score. You'll need to wait for a future session to retake the course.

edX offers financial assistance to learners who demonstrate that paying the verified certificate fee would cause economic hardship. Financial assistance currently provides a 90% reduction in the verified track fee.

But sometimes you need to complete a course for a better job, a promotion, or a college application. A verified certificate from edX can provide proof for an employer, school, or other institution that you have successfully completed an online course.

Every course on edX.org, including those which are self-paced will have an end date. To earn a certificate on the verified track you will need to have a passing score by the end date. You can find the course end date: On the course enrollment page, if the course is ending this year.

If a course is available in the audit track, on the course introduction page will mention a FREE option. Click the Enroll button to enroll. After you click Enroll you'll have the option to Upgrade Now or Continue.
