Food donations are perfect for orphanages, and they can be used in a variety of ways. You can donate canned foods, fresh produce, and even boxed meals that can be heated up quickly.
The government may have specific requirements for what can be donated, so make sure to check due diligence before ordering a truckload full of food for the kids.
If you have a specific type of food you want to donate, like a certain brand of cereal, the staff may not be able to use it. If you want to donate healthy food, but the orphanage only accepts non-perishable food, you can always donate the food to a food bank and let them pass it along.
Furniture and Bedding
Orphanages are often very spartan places, with nothing but basic beds, tables, and chairs. You can really help out the kids by donating furniture and bedding to replace the very basic stuff they have.

If the orphanage is in a warmer climate, consider donating hygiene items like soap, shampoo, socks, undergarments, and so forth. These items are often used by kids and staff members alike.
Books and Educational Materials
Orphanages often have small libraries where the kids can check out books from. You can donate new books to the library, or you can donate money so that the staff can buy new books for the kids to read.
