I’m all for saving money whenever I can and if you are too, you’re at the right place!
Whether I’m buying necessities, such as groceries or household products, or shopping for clothes or shoes, I always think carefully about what I want to buy and make sure I’m getting it for the best price possible.
If you’re like me and like to save money whenever you can, you’ll love the 7 shopping apps I’ll be talking more in-depth about in this post. I’ve saved hundreds of dollars from using these convenient and easy-to-use apps!
1. Rakuten
I’ve talked about Rakuten before (formally known as Ebates) in another post about how easy it is tosave money every time you shop online.
All you have to do to get some easy money is go through Rakuten before purchasing from your favorite website and you’ll get a percentage of cash back every time you shop.
The cash back percentages for each store varies depending on what day it is but it regularly ranges from 1% all the way to 20%.
So far, I’ve earned over $400 in cash back just by shopping regularly online the way I normally do!
I highly, highly recommend that you check out their site and app if you haven’t yet. If you click my link, you’ll be able to start earning cash back from Rakuten too and they’ll even give you a FREE $20 gift card for signing up!
Now, you can also use Rakuten to get cash back when you physically shop in select local stores.
How this works is you first add your debit or credit card to your account and then link all the local stores that you are interested in getting cash back to your card. Once you use the linked card at the store, you will automatically qualify to earn cash back with your purchase.
It’s that simple.

2. Ibotta
Ibotta is another awesome free shopping app that’ll help you save money whenever you purchase from your favorite stores.
If you hate couponing because it takes up a lot of time and you dislike having to carry around coupons in your wallet, this is one of the best apps you’ll need.
You can get a ton of rebates on groceries, beauty products, household items (and more) – all right from your phone!
They even regularly give out bonus cash when you claim enough purchases.
How Ibotta works is:
- You first choose from a list of rebates that are available in your area.
- Next, add the coupons for products that you’re interested in purchasing by pressing the plus sign next to it.
- Then purchase all the items you added to your rebates list.
- Upload your receipt through the app. And that’s it, you’re done!
You can even get a percentage of cash back on your mobile purchases if you go through Ibotta’s app!
Once you reach the $20 minimum threshold, you can cash out by receiving a payment by Paypal, Venmo, or via gift card. If you click my link, you can give Ibotta a try yourself and you’ll get a FREE $10 welcome bonus!

3. Checkout 51
Checkout51 is another awesome rewards program that gives you cash back and is great for those who do most of the shopping in the family or household.
I like using Checkout 51 mostly for groceries, beauty, toiletry, or household products but they have a variety of other cash back offers too, including alcohol and pet-related products.
Every Thursday morning, new offers are posted and you can browse and access these on their app or website. Once you find the products that you’re interested in, you buy them at the store, and upload your receipt before 11:59 PM the following Wednesday.
After you have reached a minimum of $20 in your Checkout 51account, you can cash out and a check will be mailed out to you in a few business days.
I tend to use the app version on my phone instead of accessing it on my browser because it’s more convenient and faster to use. You can upload the picture of the receipt right from your phone.
I absolutely love this cashback program and cannot recommend it enough because it has allowed me to save money on groceries every week for just buying things that I would have normally bought without the app.
4. Drop
Drop is another gem amongst shopping apps that’ll help you accumulate rewards fast.
All you need to do is link your credit card and/or debit card to your account and choose which stores you most frequently purchase from.
The number of points you earn per transaction will depend on the number of points given per $1 spent (this varies for each store).
Once you accumulate a certain number of points, you can redeem your points for an e-gift card from a variety of stores of your choice. Some e-gift cards can be redeemed for as low as 5,000 points.
I tend to purchase a lot from Tim Hortons, McDonald’s,Shoppers Drug Mart, LCBO, and a few others so those are on my list of stores that I earn points from.
Drop also has a super cool feature called Supercharge where once you have completed 5 transactions, you get to play a game that allows you to collect bonus points.
Lastly, they also have promotions for certain stores from time to time where you can get thousands of additional points for purchasing over a certain dollar amount.
Both of the Supercharge and promotions can really help you speed up the redemption process!
Check out Drop and start earning today!
5. Shoptagr
Shoptagr is a smart shopping assistant that helps you save money before you shop.
How this works is you first create an account and add items that you’re interested in purchasing to your list.
Now you can just sit back! Once the items go on sale, Shoptagr will notify you through your browser or through the app.
This app is great for people who like to wait until items are on sale to save money.
There are plenty of times when I see a pair of shoes that I want but it’s listed at full price. I often tell myself that I’ll just purchase it later when it goes on sale. But then I end up forgetting about it until it’s too late and it’s already sold out.
I’m sure some of you have been in a similar situation in the past.
You don’t have to worry about that anymore with this app. This will be able to help you jump onto sale prices right away and you’ll never have to buy items that you want for full price again! You can also use coupons on top of your purchase on the store’s site.
Shoptagr can be downloaded as a browser extension so that it automatically notifies you in your browser if an item that you saved on your list is on sale.
It’s currently available for Google Chrome, Edge, Opera, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox.
You can also download the Shoptagr appon your phone and it will send you push notifications straight to your phone. This is my preferred way to save because I’m always on my phone and I like knowing right away when items I’m eyeing go on sale.
6. Reebee
Reebee shows flyers in your local area all in one convenient app.
I like using this before I grocery shop to see all the current sales available at the time, instead of having to physically look at paper flyers.
There are a variety of features on this app that I really enjoy using.
First, you can just browse through your favorite store flyer all right from your phone.
The second feature, which is my absolute favorite about this app, is that you can search for a specific product that you want and the app will conveniently show you ALL of the stores that currently have the product on sale and for what price!
Lastly, you can also quickly save all of the sale items that you want to buy with a click of a button and it’ll compile it all into one shopping list so that it’s easily accessible later.
7. Honey
Honey isn’t an actual smartphone app but I wanted to include this browser extension in this post because it’s an extra way to save even more money!
Honey finds all discounts and coupons currently available online with just the click of a button so you don’t need to go searching for them yourself.
Just download the extension to your browser and activate it when you’re shopping online and get ready to save.
It currently works for anyone living in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.
Conclusion
These 7 shopping apps have given me the opportunity to save money when buying things that I already normally purchase.
I highly recommend you to check them out because they’re convenient, simple to use, and you can use them on the go at any time.
I hope you enjoy using these shopping apps as much as I do!
