E-bikes bring a lot of undeniable advantages to the table. Being able to serve as a reliable means of transportation without relying on gas is almost always a welcome advantage for most motorists.

Considering the ballooning prices of petrol, you cannot really be surprised by the growing number of people who are switching to e-vehicles. And that is arguably just the tip of the iceberg benefits-wise.

That said, like any other vehicle, it is not devoid of cons too. What are then the disadvantages of electric bikes? Some of the disadvantages of e-bikes include:

E-bikes are overall pricey;
E-bike batteries have a rather short lifespan;
Battery charge time is long;
The charging infrastructure is not well-developed;
Riding range remains low;
E-bikes are considerably heavier;
Maintenance and repairs are costly;
E-bikes tend to have low resale value;
E-bike manufacturing remains not environmentally friendly.

However, despite these drawbacks, the benefits and advancements in the electric bike industry continue to make e-bikes a reliable and cost-effective transportation option with reduced pollution and noise levels.

Ebike prices nowadays are definitely lower than 7 yrs ago. SLA batteries lasts 2 yrs depending on user (as long as you observe proper handling) and price is lower now than 5 yrs ago, lithium batteries lasts even longer. Maintenance cost is not that costly. Most legit dealers offer lifetime service warranty (tips on labor if you are generous enough) and just pay for the part needed if more than 1 yr of service. Most parts are available in Shopee or Lazada. Manufacturers are mostly from China so you deal with dealers. Local manufacturers mostly make the ebike types (for transport). Do you expect an ebike worth 20- 30k 7 yrs ago to have a resale value of 20k+?; Electric consumption...you won't feel it in your Meralco bill.
