About - McDonough School of Business (1)

At Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, our mission is to build global business knowledge and inspire ethical leaders to serve the common good.

We provide a world-class undergraduate, graduate, and executive experience rooted in our distinctiveness:

  • Access to expertise across Georgetown University’s renowned schools to provide interdisciplinary, integrated learning experiences.
  • A location in the global capital city of Washington, D.C., with access to thought leaders and influencers across business, government, policy, non-governmental agencies, embassies, and more.
  • Georgetown University’s Jesuit tradition that calls upon us to be leaders who foster a collaborative culture and use empathy and care for others as they work to solve the world’s most complex challenges and serve the common good.

As the business world continues rapid transformation, Dean Paul Almeida invites us to imagine a world where McDonough graduates are ready to make a difference and serve the common good. To achieve this, he lays out his vision and strategy for ensuring students graduate with the tools, techniques, and mindsets needed to lead for the future.

We also look at business through a global lens, weaving global cases, alumni interactions, and consulting projects into all of our programs. We know that students learn as much from each other as they do in the classroom, so we intentionally build diverse communities that draw from multiple nationalities and ethnicities, elevate women, support the LGBTQ+ community, and embrace veterans, providing exposure to multiple perspectives and experiences.

Through a collaborative culture, the Hoya community embraces and elevates one another. Whether through programmatic well-being initiatives, student clubs and organizations, or alumni efforts to serve as guest speakers or mentors, Georgetown is committed to the life-long success of our students and graduates.

Creating Lifelong Engagements for Alumni

The day our students earn their degree is not the end of their education, it’s just a step in the journey. This is why we are engaging in opportunities for Lifelong Learning, where alumni can return to the Hilltop to audit electives that follow emerging trends in business.

Our alumni also are experts in their fields and are at the forefront of changes in the business world. This provides a tremendous opportunity to enhance our students’ curricular experience by inviting them to be co-teachers and guests in our classrooms. Through the Partners in Leadership, Learning, and Research (PILLARs) program, alumni and parents have an opportunity to engage with our students and share their experiences and expertise.
