What Is ChildFund Alliance?
Eleven child-focused development and humanitarian agencies are part of the global ChildFund Alliance network, which helps children and their families overcome poverty and the underlying conditions that prevent children from reaching their full potential. Together we reach nearly 30 million children and family members in more than 70 countries. Members work to end violence and exploitation against children; provide expertise in emergencies and disasters to ease the harmful impact on children and their communities; and engage children, families and communities to create lasting change. Our commitment, resources, innovation, and expertise serve as a powerful force to transform the lives of children around the world.

How We Work
Each member organization promotes child sponsorship as a comprehensive and meaningful approach to child development. ChildFund Alliance members create sustainable child-focused, community-based development programs in areas where children are impacted by war, natural disaster, poverty and global health issues such as HIV/AIDS.
Programs address education, health, nutrition, micro-enterprise and economic development, and emergency response and psychosocial interventions. ChildFund works in partnership with local communities. The participation of children themselves is a key component of our approach.
The ChildFund Alliance Secretariat oversees the day-to-day operations of the Alliance. It develops and works with members to implement Alliance-wide strategy, standards and policies. The Secretariat represents the Alliance at international forums such as the United Nations and the European Union.

Our History
Founded in 1938, ChildFund is a child-focused global development organization that helps nearly 30 million children and family members in more than 70 countries. In 2002, a group of 11 child-centered international development organizations joined together under the banner of ChildFund Alliance to become a global force for children. Together, the ChildFund Alliance members create opportunities for joint initiatives serving children and families in need. It improves the effectiveness of programs for children, increases efficiency and extends the reach and influence of the members by enhancing individual and collective strengths. The Alliance builds on more than 80 years of its members’ experience in working to improve the lives of children, families and communities.
