Below i will be comparing the accelerator to the ranger is a variety of different categories. Feel free to correct me on a topic if i'm wrong or share your opinion about which you think is best. Enjoy!
DPS:
Ranger: Very impressive DPS, with around 85 DPS. This is above most towers and is very effective for killing bosses.
Accelerator: Highest DPS, with over 400 DPS, however its only around 250 with the ROF bug. Still the highest DPS in the game.
Range:
Ranger: literally has range in the name. the range can usually reach across like the entire map with DJ. This helps make sure there are no blind spots in your defense.
Accelerator: Rather low range at the lower levels, so it should be paired with a DJ to keep its low range in check.
Price:
Ranger: very expensive, and one of the priciest towers in the game. bring farms.
Accelerator: Also very expensive, but not as expensive as Ranger. This gives it a slight edge in this category.
Placement:
Ranger: can only be placed on cliffs with a limit of 10, so you might want to bring an extra DPS tower with you in case you run out of space to place more rangers.
Accelerator: Can be placed on the ground, giving it more places to put it which can help with it's low range. Has a placement limit of 8 however, so you might want to bring a little extra firepower with you.
Defense busting:
Rangers: can slice through defense like it's butter. Easily the best at killing defense towers like giant boss and templar, which makes this almost required for fallen and hardcore.
Accelerator: since this tower shoots very fast, it gets devastated by defense, but since its DPS is so high, it can just power through and still deal high damage.
Consistency:
Rangers: Since they are on cliffs, they get stunned much less frequently, and their long-range makes them able to shoot from anywhere on the map, so they are almost always attacking, making this a very consistent source of DPS
Accelerator: With a charge time, a cool down, and a vulnerability to stuns, this tower is rather inconsistent with its DPS, so it can lose some DPS if it gets stunned often.
Crowd Control:
Rangers: if placed in groups, they have decent crowd control since they can one-shot anything in the crowd, but since it has a high fire-rate, it struggles in this category.
Accelerators: Like minigunner, this thing can melt entire hoards easily because of how fast it shoots. Its high DPS also makes this perfect for quickly dispatching big waves of zombies.
Hidden defense:
Rangers: never get hidden detection, so they are weak to shadow and hidden bosses.
Accelerator: gets hidden detection from the very start, and because of its high DPS at lvl 0, this is a good way to kill shadow and hidden bosses. It is quite expensive though.
Skins:
Ranger: Has a variety of skins in a variety of crates, making this have many diverse and cool skins to choose from.
Accelerator: has no skins lol.
Unlock difficulty:
Ranger: highest costing tower in coins in the game, with a whopping 8500 coins to buy. yikes.
Accelerator: gems are so friggin hard to get and it costs A LOT of gems. this will take a while.
