What is the contestability period of AIA? ›

The contestability period is the time period during which the insurer is not obligated to pay a claim because of material misrepresentations found in the application. A policy becomes "incontestable" when the contestability period of normally two (2) years is over.

But if a person dies within the first two years of having the policy — what's typically known as the contestability period — the company has the right to delay payment while it investigates the beneficiaries' claim. It can also dispute the claim if it finds evidence of misrepresentation.

Can a Claim be Denied after the Period of Contestability? As long as premiums are current, an insurer cannot rescind a life insurance policy or deny a claim to a beneficiary, except in proven cases of fraud.

Benefits are payable if you survive at least 15 days from the date of diagnosis of any of the 39 critical illnesses or a covered surgery.

Only one critical illness claim can be made during the lifetime of the insured. The maximum benefit payable is ` 10 lakhs, including all policies that are issued by us.

Your membership status is in effect for one (1) year and may be renewed annually provided that your insurance policies remain active and the total combined annual premium meets the minimum premium requirement.
