What are instant transfers?
Transferring money within Stash generally is effective immediately but could take up to a few minutes; however, transferring to an external bank account can take 1-3 business days. Instant transfers allow you to transfer money to an external bank from your Stash banking account instantly for a 1% fee. (Note: It can take up to 10 minutes for your money to appear in your external account.)
You may not see instant transfers as an option if you haven’t linked an eligible external bank account.
Why do standard transfers take longer than instant transfers?
Standard transfers are processed by ACH (Automated Clearing House). These transfers are available at no additional fee, but may take 1–3 days to reach your external bank. Instant transfers are processed through a different network that allows for faster transfers, typically within 10 minutes.
How much do instant transfers to an external bank cost?
Instant transfers to an external bank cost 1% of the total amount transferred. The 1% will be deducted from the amount you enter. For example, if you enter $100, $99 will be transferred to your external bank and $1 will be charged as a fee by Stash.
Why was my instant transfer amount less than I expected?
Keep in mind, we do charge a 1% fee to process an instant transfer. If your transfer amount is 1% less, that is probably why.

Why did I get an error when I tried to instantly transfer funds to an external debit card?
You may get an error if there is an issue with your linked card. Your card may no longer be eligible if it’s expired, does not have enough funds on it, or if it’s been flagged for identity verification issues.
