LIVE UPDATES | CONCLUDED
Follow all the latest U.S. market action for Wednesday here.
Last Updated:
April 17, 2024 at 4:24 PM EDT
Here is a quick rundown on where stocks stand in the final hour of Wednesday's trading:
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down around 81 points, or 0.2%, at about 37,719, after earlier gains evaporated.
The S&P 500 was down 29 points, or 0.6%, at around 5,022.
The Nasdaq Composite was down about 165 points, or 1%, at roughly 15,701.
If the S&P 500 and Nasdaq close lower, they will have recorded their longest streak of daily losses since January.
In addition, the S&P 500 was on pace to close lower after opening higher for a third straight session. It would be only the second time that this has happened in almost two years.
Note: A previous version of this post incorrectly stated that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were headed for their longest streak of losses in more than a year. It has been updated to reflect that they were headed for their longest streak of losses since January.
