It's time to ignite the spark of curiosity and inspire the next generation of female leaders in STEM!
Allergan Aesthetics and Girls Inc. are joining forces with SkinSpirit to empower young women in science, technology, engineering, and math.
But here's where it gets controversial: despite the growing interest among girls in STEM careers, only a small fraction of these fields are occupied by women. With a mere 18% of STEM jobs in the U.S. held by women, it's clear that we need to take action to bridge this gap.
Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, is stepping up to the plate by continuing its partnership with Girls Inc. for the 7th year running. Their goal? To foster mentorship and provide the necessary tools and encouragement for girls to pursue STEM careers with confidence.
"At Allergan Aesthetics, we believe in creating opportunities for young women to see themselves in STEM. We want to inspire the next generation of female leaders and ensure they have the support they need to succeed," said Nicole Mowad-Nassar, President of Global Allergan Aesthetics and Senior Vice President of AbbVie.
Recent data highlights the urgency of this mission. While 55% of girls express interest in STEM careers, various barriers still stand in their way. That's why Allergan Aesthetics has launched two key initiatives: the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) Atlanta Training Center Experience and the SkinSpirit Gives Campaign.
The AMI Atlanta Training Center Experience will offer a unique behind-the-scenes tour for Girls Inc. participants in Atlanta. They'll get to explore the newly opened AMI Training Center and engage in a private panel discussion with local female healthcare providers. These providers will share their personal career journeys, offering valuable insights and advice to the young women.
AMI is dedicated to advancing the field of aesthetics through high-impact educational programs for aesthetic providers. By elevating the science and art of aesthetics, AMI aims to empower providers with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers.
And this is the part most people miss: SkinSpirit, a pioneer in medical aesthetics and skincare, is also stepping up to support this cause. SkinSpirit Gives, their philanthropic arm, is partnering with Allergan Aesthetics and Girls Inc. to inspire clients to contribute to the development of STEM programming, mentorship, and career exploration opportunities for girls.
"As someone who started my career in the tech world, I've seen firsthand the transformative power of STEM opportunities for women. Partnering with Girls Inc. to champion mentorship and education in these fields is incredibly meaningful. It's about unlocking a world of possibilities for young women," said Lynn Heublein, CEO and Co-founder of SkinSpirit.
During the campaign, which runs from November 1st to November 15th, SkinSpirit will invite clients to donate directly to Girls Inc. All contributions will go towards supporting STEM initiatives for more than 120,000 girls across 75 affiliates in the U.S. and Canada.
