Romance blooms even in the most battle-focused of video games, like Apex Legends, for example. The game's detailed lore focuses on the legends' backstories and ever-evolving relationships with each other. In-game voice lines also reflect the current drama in the Arena, which is a shipper's dream.

Apex fans have strong opinions regarding legend ships, with many desired relationships even earning their own hashtag or nickname in the community. Considering there have yet to be any canon romances between the legends, let's break down some popular romantic ships and what the lore has to say about their possibilities.

Apex Legends' Wattson/Crypto Ship Has Plenty Of Evidence

Apex Legends' Static Defender and Surveillance Expert's ship has some of the most evidence behind it. Since Season 5, the ever-popular Wattson and Crypto's growing relationship has been documented in their in-game voice interactions. Many Apex fans suspected a romance in the future until Caustic intervened.

During The Broken Ghost quest, Caustic informed Revenant of Loba's plan to seek revenge for her parents' murders and framed Crypto as the mole. As a result, Wattson stopped talking to Crypto. In Season 6, Gibraltar wrote a letter to Wattson that exposed Caustic as the real culprit.

Now, in Season 7, Crypto and Wattson are working on repairing their strained friendship. Wattson has previously told Crypto that she can't trust someone she doesn't know. Crypto appears to have taken her statement to heart in a voice-over recording released by Respawn back in 2020. He confides in Wattson, revealing his real name and belief that someone from the Syndicate is after him. When Wattson asks why Crypto has told her so much, especially considering her past employment with the Syndicate, he responds, "I... enjoyed working with you. And you seem honest, trustworthy, I hope."

The Bangalore/Loba Ship Was Legend Before Valkyrie

Being a former soldier, Bangalore initially viewed the rule-breaking High Society Thief as her enemy. However, the two formed an unlikely friendship after Bangalore chose to protect Loba from Revenant during The Broken Ghost quest. Well into Season 7, Bangalore and Loba's friendship is documented via their in-game voice interactions. Bangalore started replying with "girl" at the end of statements, which is uncharacteristic of her hardened military persona.

On the other hand, Loba has adopted some of Bangalore's military jargon. As for a possible romance, Apex Legends' senior writer, Tom Casiello, confirmed Loba is bisexual, but Bangalore's sexual orientation remains unknown. However, their flirting all changed in Season 10 with the introduction of Valkyrie.

Valkyrie's Flirtation With Loba Is More Than Teasing

Soaring high into the game in season 10, Valkyrie is the daughter of a Titan pilot Viper, who fans may remember from Titanfall 2. She's also openly gay and has some of the game's most flirtatious dialogue with Loba. When speaking to each other in Season 10, there was always a bit of tension between the two.

Loba seemed frustrated with Valkyrie's teasing, while Valkyrie at one point outright told Loba she should ask her out if she really wanted to thank her. The relationship has continued into newer seasons with stronger flirting, though Valkyrie's arrival also leads to Loba turning a cold shoulder to Bangalore.

Apex Legends' Popular Wraith/Mirage Ship Is Unlikely To Pan Out

Wraith and Mirage are Apex Legends' oldest ships, dating back to the battle royale's debut. Much like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's famous couple name "Brangelina," fans have dubbed the duo "Miraith." The Launch Trailer marked the first appearance of Miraith. In a series of flashbacks, Wraith recalls saving Mirage from Caustic. In return, Mirage brings up the time he heroically saved Wraith from Bangalore. The memory triggers a sly smile from Wraith and establishes her long-standing friendship with Mirage.

Miraith's relationship has been expanded upon in future seasons. In Season 5, Wraith receives constant calls from Mirage while on a surveillance mission. Season 6's quest also revealed Wraith helped Mirage with his disorganized finances. Later, when Mirage and Rampart turn to Wraith for help settling a bet in "Third Wheel," Mirage tries to bribe her by saying, "Don't forget the one you have history with."

In-game voice lines have documented Mirage and Wraith's playful duality. "He needs to be more serious, she needs to lighten up," Casiello said on X (formerly Twitter). But even with the old sentiment "opposites attract," a Wraith/Mirage romance seems unlikely. Over Apex Legends' seven seasons, there have been no confirmed romances between any of the legends.

Nonetheless, shippers cling to hope, considering Miraith a possibility thanks to a piece of evidence spotted in the Season 3 Trailer. In the cinematic, Mirage reads a magazine titled The Enigmatic Mirage On Love & Life In The Arena that features a picture of Mirage and Wraith together from the Launch Trailer on one of the pages. Although it could be a simple callback to Apex Legends' origins, the fact Wraith is featured in a magazine about Mirage's "love and life" is compelling.

Lifeline And Octane Have A Complicated Relationship

Both hailing from the planet Psamathe, Lifeline and Octane have a long and complicated friendship. After Octane blew off his own legs during a Gauntlet run, he manipulated Lifeline into procuring his bionic legs. Apex fans got an inside look into the heated text message exchange between the two in Season 2 that ended with Lifeline blocking the High-Speed Daredevil.

Lifeline and Octane have since made amends. Although their long friendship lays the groundwork for a possible romance, it seems unlikely. Based on in-game voice interactions, Lifeline and Octane's relationship resembles more of bantering siblings than lovers. Not to mention, Octane frequently refers to her as "hermana," which translates to "sister" in English.

Apex's "Darksparks" Wattson And Wraith May Be More Than Friends

Wraith and Wattson's shipped relationship is known as "Darksparks" among the Apex community. Despite a strong following, lore suggests Darksparks is rooted in friendship, not romance. Wattson says so herself with the voice line, "Thanks, having a best friend saved my life." Since Wattson's debut in Season 2, Wraith offered her friendship when others did not.

An image released by Respawn even features goofy photo booth pictures of the best friends on Wattson's desk. Wraith has also been known to inquire about Wattson's relationship with Crypto and Caustic. The Static Defender's response, "I'm done talking about boys until boys give me a good reason to talk about them again," may actually lend evidence to the Wattson/Crypto ship as opposed to Darksparks.
