Rec'd 2 emails in the past week stating that there is an issue with my credit card setup for payments.
Tried to make an in app purchase and it popped up saying "your credit card is about to expire" asking me to login to update Apple Pay settings, but once I'm in there it won't let me add new card in order to remove and add back the one they say is expiring. (it doesn't expire until 2026)
iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

Ok I just got off the phone with the same problem and now it works. You gotta go to setting and click on your iCloud name at the top. Then click on media and purchase. Then view account. Then manage payments. Click on the card you have link to apply pay and remove the card from here. Once done then re add the card from here

- Apple Pay is sending incorrect credit card expiry dateWhen I try to use Apple Pay on my iPhone at a merchant terminal, the transaction is declined. I can tap my credit card and the transaction is approved. I have talked to my bank, and they say Apple Pay is sending a credit card expiry date dated 2027 that does not match my card expiry date of 2023, which triggers the decline. I have removed the card from my Apple devices and re-loaded them, yet the problem continues. There is no doubt the card is entered correctly on iPhone and in Safari auto-fill. Has anyone experienced this? 18011
- My credit card used for Apple Pay has expired..how do I confirm the new date has been updated? As explained in a variety if places, such as here: the credit card on applepay has expired..how do i enter the new expiry date?:While you can't change your card number or expiration date, it should update automatically when you get a new card. If your issuer doesn't support updates, you might need to remove the card, then add it again. That's all well and good. My question is: how do I check whether or not this actually happened? There is no expiration date displayed in any of the payment setup screens I can find (on Mac or iPhone). 5531

I fixed my problem with payments, in a text conversation with Apple here is what we found:
- on my iPhone 12, running 17.2.1.
- I went to: Settings/AppleID/Account Settings/Purchase History
- We found an "unpaid" purchase (my was to an app)...I selected that "unpaid" purchase
- It said that it was "unpaid" because my credit card had expired (which we all know it wasn't)...but then asked if I wanted to "relink" or "link" (I don't recall the exact wording) the credit card payment method in my AppleID to my Apple Wallet. I selected "yes"....and it "relinked" to my Wallet. All of the red text turned to black.
- I agreed to pay the "unpaid" purchase and....presto! Everything worked again.
- The Apple person I was texting seemed to understand that the "expiring credit card" was a bogus error message; the cause of the problems was this "unpaid" purchase.
- I have no idea why the purchase was "unpaid"...not sure what went wrong the first time. It was a valid purchase request, so nothing funny going on here.
I hope that works for others.

I didn't receive any emails, but I'm experiencing the same issue with Apple Pay. My cards don't expire until 2027. Restarted device and still experiencing the same issue. I'm going to update to 17.2. Just need to clear some storage

same thing here. Kids can’t buy anything with sharing, and I’m getting notice my subscriptions are going to be cancelled due to an expiring card that isn’t expiring.

Me to….. this was working just fine yesterday but all of a sudden I’m not able to use my card. Since my card is about to expire, but it doesn’t expire until 2026.. i’ve tried deleting my card, but it won’t allow me to. I’ve tried adding a card, then deleting the card then adding my original card back and it still gives me the same error message.. this Hass to be something to do with their end. They probably updated and screwed something up somewhere. Don’t worry they’ll figure it out once they start realizing they’re losing a ton of money. lol

Well Apple support via text was no help.
They told me to do all the things I already tried that didn’t work.
Shared with them the email I got when this whole ordeal started. Advised them and shared the link to this discussion board showing multiple people having this issue.
Had to schedule a call back for Sunday from a senior advisor. We’ll see if I get a call ☎️.

I had the same issue. The response below from Pitt5323 worked to fix the issue.
- Go to Settings
- Click on your name (Apple ID, ICloud+....)
- Click on Media and Purchases
- Click on View Account
- Click on Manage Payments
- Click on the card you have linked to apply payment. It should show expired.
- Remove the card from Manage Payments screen
- Re-add the card to Manage Payments screen by clicking on the Add Payment Method.

I also got two emails yesterday about updating my Apple Pay because my subscriptions weren't going through. Email looked completely valid. Also not being able to buy in-app purchases on a game I play because "card is about to expire" (not...valid through 5/25) This is happening to tons of people (including me) - it's clearly an Apple problem. I am experiencing this same issue. Removing the card and adding again, reordering the card, and updating software does not fix it.

I had the same thing I got emails and more on different monthly subscriptions. I had a long phone call with Apple and they didn’t help. They did a lot and said it was fine. It’s not, I just tried to buy and app and it said my card blah blah blah.

I only have my one card connected to Apple Pay, and when I tried to remove it, it said that I have pending purchases and that it won’t allow me to remove it. With the pending purchases, it says my card is expired and etc.

OK THIS WAS MY FIX....
I GOT ANOTHER WARNING ON MY PHONE - IT FINALLY LET ME REMOVE MY CARD on my phone BUT WOULD NOT LET ME ADD THE SAME CARD WITH A NEW EXPIRATION DATE because it said it had expired (which it had not.
SO I DID THIS THAT WORKED!!!!
I got on my laptop and went to
https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage/section/payment
This will take you to
Payment and Shipping - Media Payment and Purchases.
It said I did not have a card on file and
I put in my info.
Obviously - make sure you put the billing name your card and use the 4 digit year.
And....shazam!!!!!! My nightmare of a month is finally over!
Apple immediately sent and email that my info had been updated.
I thought about going to desktop because I just couldn't erase the existing card (that of course was not expiring)
Now, my final thought. Lately banks have been reissuing expired cards with the same account number but a different expiration date. I'm guessing this is the real problem. I could be wrong but the above worked for me.
