Interviewer may ask about your willingness to work overtime for several reasons, depending on the specific context of the job and the organization.
while occasional overtime may be necessary, there are legal limitations on working hours in many jurisdictions. Labor laws often dictate the maximum number of hours an employee can work in a given period and may require payment of overtime wages for hours worked beyond the standard workweek.
While interviewing for a job hiring manager will often inquire about willingness to work overtime.
Your attitude matters more than anything else to answer this question.
However if you are someone who is not willing to work overtime at all. You would briefly explain the reason insisted to bluntly say " NO".
Don't show your hesitation: Reason why overtime working is required
This question is asked at times to check if you are passionate and committed about work.
Sample Answer
I understand that being asked to work for an extended number of hours come with a good reason in the first place. So I am ok with it.
