2019 was a very good year on All Day I Dream About Food, with some of my most popular keto recipes yet! Read on for the best keto recipes of the last 12 months.
Whoa! It’s not just the end of another year. It’s the end of a DECADE! We are about to enter the 2020s, and my mind is reeling a bit with the momentousness of that. Did you know that ADIDAF has been around for almost 10 years? March 3rd, 2020 will mark this blog’s 10 year anniversary.
One of the things I’ve learned in my almost 10 years as a food blogger is that not every recipe is an instant hit. Some go totally viral from the beginning and some are the slow burn variety, starting off quietly but finding more and more fans as time passes. And some recipes just don’t seem to go anywhere at all, and just sort of fizzle with gaining any traction.
Excellent question, my friends. If I knew that, then every single recipe I created would go totally viral and I’d be making millions of dollars. Alas, I don’t always know what will do well and what won’t, and so I focus mostly on the recipes I want to make.
Turns out that this is a good approach, and that a lot of what appeals to me happens to appeal to you too. I guess we often crave the same things!
I do get a kick out of looking back and seeing which were the most popular keto recipes of the year. It’s always a surprise to me to see which recipes took off and which didn’t.
Some of my favourites make the list and some of my favourites get completely overlooked. I’ve come to realize that it’s entirely beyond my control and I should just enjoy the process.

To maximize weight loss on a ketogenic diet, get adequate sleep, reduce stress, be more active and consume whole, nutritious, low-carb foods whenever possible.
A person on the keto diet should limit their carb intake to up to 50 g a day. A person generally replaces high carb foods with fatty foods, such as eggs, dairy products, and fresh meat and fish. Wheat products and some fruits, vegetables, beans, and legumes can be high in carbs, so checking food labels is key.
Cutting carbs, increasing your intake of healthy fats, and getting more exercise may help you enter ketosis. Ketosis is a normal metabolic process that provides fuel for your body at times when fewer carbohydrates are available.
Can you eat tomatoes on the keto diet? "Tomatoes are keto," says Abby Langer, R.D., author of Good Food, Bad Diet. "They're low in carbs, so they fit perfectly into keto." One whole medium tomato contains roughly 5 grams of carbohydrates, of which 1.5 grams are fiber and 3 grams are sugar.
“If the patient can maintain a steady calorie deficit, I expect them to lose one to two pounds per week,” says Dr. Seeman. So after 12 weeks, her clients are usually down around 20-25 pounds.
The keto diet changes the way your metabolism works by encouraging it to use ketone bodies instead of glucose for energy production. In the first couple of weeks, it's possible to lose up to ten pounds. After that, you could be losing one to two pounds per week.
Peanut butter can definitely be part of a keto diet, but it's best to stick to plain options that are free of extra flavors and sweeteners. Almond butter is a good choice, too, and it's slightly lower in carbs. Additionally, you should be mindful of your portion size if you're trying to lose weight.
Generally, it is recommended to keep daily carbs intake under 50 grams. However, some people may need to restrict their daily carb intake to 20-30 grams for optimal ketosis.
Most ketogenic diet guidelines recommend limiting your total carbohydrate intake to 15-30 grams or 5%-10% of your total calorie intake a day. Eating more than 50 grams of carbs may disrupt ketosis. With keto diets, however, carb restrictions vary from person to person.
Many low carb alcohol options are available if you follow a keto diet. For instance, pure forms of alcohol like whiskey, gin, tequila, rum, and vodka are all completely free of carbs. You can drink them straight or combine them with low carb mixers for more flavor.
Cucumbers are made of 90% water and are almost calorie-free. One cup of cucumbers contains only 16 calories and 3 grams of net carbs, making it a sure fit for a keto plan.
You can eat a variety of salads on keto, as long as they contain healthy fats and proteins and are low in carbs. Egg salad, grilled chicken salad, shrimp salad, cauliflower salad, arugula salad, cucumber salad, antipasto salad, Greek salad, Caprese salad, and spinach salad are just a few keto-friendly salads to enjoy.
- Starchy Vegetables: Potatoes, peas, sweet potatoes, yams, corn, cassava, artichoke, etc. - Refined Carbs: Bread, pasta, pastries, tortilla, sandwich, etc. Due to the high-carb content of these food items, they are not keto-friendly.
Individuals on a keto diet can lose an average of 10-12 pounds in their first month if they stay consistent with the diet and maintain a calorie deficit. However, weight loss can vary depending on starting weight, age, and activity level. At first, there may be a quick drop in weight, but it's mainly due to water loss.
Foods you can eat on the keto diet include fish and seafood, meat and poultry, non-starchy vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, and zucchini, avocados, berries, nuts and seeds, eggs, high-fat dairy products, olive oil and other oils, and high-cocoa chocolate.
The ketogenic (keto) diet changes the way your body uses food. Typically, carbohydrates in your diet provide most of the fuel your body needs. The keto diet reduces the number of carbs you eat and teaches your body to burn fat for fuel instead. The keto diet is high in fat, moderate in protein and low in carbohydrates.
The amount of weight you can lose on a low-carb diet in 2 weeks can vary widely depending on factors such as your starting weight, adherence to the diet, and individual metabolism. Some individuals have reported losing up to 10 pounds or more in two weeks, while others may experience less dramatic results.
