When you block someone's number, you won't receive their calls, texts or notifications for voicemail.

After you block someone, their likes and comments will be removed from your photos and videos. Unblocking someone won't restore their previous likes and comments. People that you block can still see your likes and comments on posts that were shared by public accounts or accounts they follow.

Tap that button, and then tap “Unblock.” The contact will now be unblocked, and your phone will start being able to receive texts, calls, and Facetimes from them again.

The person's phone is probably switched off or in airplane mode or “Do Not Disturb” mode. However, if it rings just once (or a half-ring or abbreviated ring) and goes directly to voicemail, then it's very likely your number has been blocked.

Of course, there are many reasons why someone might not respond right away, but if your texts aren't going through and your calls go straight to voicemail, you could have been blocked. In truth, the only way to know for sure that you've been blocked by someone is to ask them directly.

The only way to see a call history from a blocked number is to unblock the number. They will be added to your regular call list, and you will be able to see any missed calls you receive from the number. However, they will be able to contact you again. Consider if it's worth your privacy.

To unblock a number or a contact, navigate to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts or Settings > Messages > Blocked Contacts. Swipe right to left across the number, then tap Unblock. To unblock a contact directly from your list, go to the Contacts app, tap the person's entry, then tap Unblock this Caller.

If the account is public, and when visiting their page you can't see their profile image, post count, follower count, or following count, and the photo grid area reads "No Posts Yet," you have been blocked.

The duration of your account depends on your personal needs and the VISA requirements stated by the embassy. 12 months is the standard duration for a blocked account.

When you block someone from the Instagram app, you'll have the option to block their account, or to block their account and other existing accounts they may have or accounts they may create. Note: If you're following multiple accounts owned by the same person, you'll need to block each account individually.

Blocking a user prevents them from contacting you via Messages or Phone. When you unblock a number, these features will be accessible again. You can still ignore any received messages or calls, but you'll see every notification.

For iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts > Edit. Then, unblock the number to allow calls from it again. For Android, including Samsung Galaxy models, go to Phone > More > Settings > Blocked numbers and delete the blocked number from the list.

When you unblock a profile, you won't automatically be friends again. If you block a profile and then unblock it, you'll need to send that profile a new friend request. Profiles won't be notified when you block them.

You can't know for sure if someone has blocked your number on an Android without asking the person. However, if your Android's phone calls and texts to a specific person don't seem to be reaching them, your number might have been blocked.
