Blood of Zeus introduces anime fans to the powerful Greek Pantheon. The Netflix anime series is heavily inspired by Greek mythology and its characters. This troupe of over-dramatic and over-powered characters rivals the strongest anime characters. Each of the gods rules over powerful elements and has astonishing mythological powers, granting them different abilities that they can use in battle and otherwise. These abilities range from super speed to crafting skills and make the gods terrifyingly powerful in the eyes of humanity.

Though the gods have had hundreds of tales told about them throughout history, Blood of Zeus has recontextualized them from a new perspective and created a dramatic package for audiences with modern anime. 15 Dionysus Could Have Been a Greater Asset

Dionysus, the God of Wine, holds great importance in Greek mythology and has the power to inspire and create ecstasy. While Dionysus did not play an important role in the first two seasons of Blood of Zeus, there is potential for the character to be a major part of the upcoming seasons.

In Greek mythology, Dionysus is known for his dual nature and is called the God of Altered Perceptions; he has the ability to influence people's mental states, which can lead them to experience their reality in unique ways. Since Dionysus' power in the Netflix anime series has not yet been shown to its full potential, it lands him at the end of this hierarchy.

14 Aphrodite Can Influence Any God

Viewers only caught a glimpse of the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, during the war, and she has the power of affection. The Goddess takes Hera's side despite being Zeus' daughter. 13 Persephone Didn't Need Hades to Defend Her

Persephone, the Goddess of Spring, did appear in the Blood of Zeus; her mythological power is the manipulation of trees. She made a tree grow out of nowhere for Hades to have in her absence. However, given the troubling circ*mstances of her wanting to be with Hades in the Underworld, her full potential is yet to be explored.

Persephone's natural kinetic powers are all thanks to her mother, Demeter, who is far above in this hierarchy. The Goddess is strong-willed and does not bow down to her mother's wishes to leave the Underworld and Hades. Persephone is also considered the Goddess of the Underworld in Greek mythology, as Hades is considered her husband.

12 Hestia Demonstrates Her Fiery Power Defending the Stone

Hestia, the Goddess of Hearth, has the power of fire. Although she has not had the opportunity to showcase her mythological powers to their full extent in Blood of Zeus, fans of the Netflix anime have seen the Goddess create and manipulate fire. Toward the end of her brother's life, viewers witnessed Hestia use her emotions to unleash her firepower even more.

The Goddess Hestia was entrusted to retrieve the Eleusinian stone and give it to Gaia by Zeus, which means it's safe to assume that she must be extremely strong. The Goddess also has the ability to defy gravity.

11 Hephaestus Is the God Who Forged Victory

As the god of blacksmiths, Hephaestus showcases his abilities to craft all the armor and weapons, enough to rival all the coolest anime weapons made yet, wielded by the Olympians in Blood of Zeus. He has the power of ordering his automations to do anything he desires, and his presence on the battlefield is as potent as that of any of the other gods. As a result of Hephaestus' power, every warrior on Zeus' side is capable of making an impact, even humans. Fans of the Netflix anime know that powerful items, weapons and tools can change the tide of battle as any good mythological power or ability can.

Viewers can safely assume from the visual design of the gauntlet that captures souls and controls the giants in the final battle that Hephaestus may have created it. He made Heron his special bow and arrow and gifted him a unique compass to track the Adamantium sword. If only Hephaestus were powerful enough to hold onto all his cool toys.

The Goddess of the Hunt doesn't get much screen time, but her cold eyes and glowing hands are part of the reason Zeus reconsiders his position when first confronted by Hera. Viewers got to see Artemis in action with a bow and arrow in hand during the battle in Season 2 of Blood of Zeus. The goddess is known for her strength with a ranged weapon, yet viewers are left to speculate on her mythological power.

Although the full extent of Artemis' powers is unknown, Zeus refers to her as "cunning" before saying goodbye. In Greek mythology, Artemis is described as a Goddess of Wild Nature, and viewers can hope to see more of her in the coming season. Demeter also has control of plant life. Her ability to manipulate vegetation and the earth aligns with other powerful characters who share similar abilities, showcasing their diverse plant-based powers. This ability can be seen wrapping up another warrior after her flaming staff fails to hit its mark. In Greek mythology, Demeter's sadness about not being able to see her daughter, Persephone, who was with Hades, leads to famine.

8 Athena's Strategies Saved Olympians in the War

The Goddess of Wisdom, Strategy, Warfare and Skill certainly deserves to be closer to the top of the hierarchy because she has the power of wisdom. Viewers can assume it was Athena's strategies that were used throughout the war in Blood of Zeus. As goddess of wisdom, she was the only one who uncovered that the infestation of seeds was done by Demeter and she recognized that the Gods were being spied upon.

Athena is also a skilled warrior and has animal instincts like Hades, the God of the Dead. Her strategic abilities and combat skills showcase the complexity of the best female anime warriors. The Goddess of Wisdom was the only Olympian God who could feel Hermes' presence under the cloak of invisibility. She could spy on others through the eyes of an owl, which was also one of her gifts. In other legends that tell the tale of the Gods of Olympus, Athena is a threat that God and man are forced to respect.

7 Apollo's Teleportation Could Have Saved Zeus

Apollo proves to be handsome as he is powerful in Blood of Zeus with his mythological power to manipulate solar energy. His station as the god of the sun gives him sun-related abilities that no other god is capable of. Apollo also has the power of the sixth sense, as he knew Electra was pregnant beforehand. He appears to have teleportation powers through mirrors and communicates with Zeus through them as well.

While riding over the battlefield in a chariot led by two flaming horses, Apollo lets the fire of the sun rain down on his foes in the middle of Sozin's Comet. His strengths as a swordsman and capability of ranged combat, thanks to his chariot, make him a formidable opponent against gods and demons alike. The God of the Sun can also heal other people's injuries through his powers.

6 Hermes Was the Most Powerful Asset in Battle

Hermes is known as the God of Travel and Speed, and he proved his abilities several times in the Blood of Zeus. In most iterations of the Greek Pantheon, Hermes is relegated to the role of a messenger. His winged boots offer him the mythological power of super speed and make him the perfect person to deliver messages. What most iterations of the Pantheon fail to do is show how strong these abilities can be on the battlefield.

In the show's final battle, Hermes' speed creates a tornado that forces the entirety of Hera's army to pause before pushing forward through the cloud of dust. He even manages to strike the God of War in a sparring session, something only a few others manage to do in Blood of Zeus. Hermes' command of speed also translates into his reflexes, allowing him to swiftly dodge any devastating attacks.

Ares, the God of War, proves that he can take on any of the gods quite easily in Blood of Zeus. In the Netflix anime series, Ares fights with Apollo and Hermes, where viewers can witness Ares' ability to keep up with Hermes' speed only to stop him in his tracks. In fact, during the original war against the giants, Ares, Zeus and Hades are the only gods shown to kill one of the gray beasts, putting the God of War in elite company.

Ares has immense strength, enough to break an entire island in half. Ares wields a hammer to deadly effect throughout the entirety of this series. On multiple occasions, he proves his mettle in battle by taking on both Apollo and Hermes, defeating them simultaneously. While Hades' dark form is impressive, it’s interesting to compare his abilities to the most overpowered transformations in anime. The God of the Sea, Poseidon, is the only equivalent God in Olympus who can manipulate energy like Hades. The God of the Dead can drain the life out of people with his touch and has the power to control life and death itself. Hades definitely has the upper hand in some situations.

3 Poseidon's Powers Can Easily Rival Zeus'

Poseidon, being the God of the Sea, can manipulate all forms of water and has an equivalent amount of control over the weather as Zeus does in Blood of Zeus. The God of the Sea might be one of the very few Olympians who can stop Zeus in a fight, and the final battle gives viewers a taste of his strength. Poseidon's control over water would rival even the most powerful waterbending characters.

Poseidon can take any form or shape underwater and can breathe underwater as well. When confronting Zeus with the law in Episode 3, "The Raid," the gods are lucky to have Poseidon on their side. When the King of the Gods threatens them, Poseidon holds him back, demonstrating his strength without having to throw a single punch.

2 Hera's Power Could Almost Destroy the God of Thunder

The usurping Goddess is respected and feared by all, including Zeus. The God of Thunder feared Hera enough to hide his son, Heron, and his lover, Electra, under the clouds for years. This fear is proof enough of her mythological power, but that doesn't stop the creators of Blood of Zeus from demonstrating Hera's ability for extrasensory perception (ESPer).

The Goddess of Marriage uses her ability to levitate objects with her mind and has the power of shape-shifting to nearly take Olympus from Zeus. If she could evade the promise of giving the seas to the giants, alienating one of her most powerful allies, she surely would have taken down the God of Thunder.

1 Zeus' Power Could Destroy and Hide an Entire Village

The God of Thunder is the youngest among his siblings and the strongest God among the Olympians. He can manipulate the weather at his will, create a storm, or burn down the world with his thunder. When Hera chooses to confront Zeus on Mount Olympus after finding that he has broken his laws, Zeus is so confident in his abilities that he nearly starts a fight against the most powerful characters.

Zeus' control of the sky and mastery of lightning make him a foe that must be respected. Hera knew just how powerful her husband was and made sure to confront him with the help of others, perhaps unsure of her ability to take down the titan killer. Zeus remains the strongest Olympian in Olympus and deserves to be on top among all the Gods.
