In some circ*mstances, children may have to travel alone without any parent or guardian, but with Alternative Airlines we've made it easy for you to buy flights for unaccompanied minors. When you book through Alternative Airlines you can book a flight ticket for a child flying solo with Spirit Airlines, Southwest Airlines and JetBlue.
Please note that the rules for unaccompanied minors will vary on the airline that you choose to fly with. Many airlines don't allow children to fly alone under the age of 8, however, this will change depending on the airline.
If your child is flying solo then you'll need to provide proof of consent as well as other documentation required by the airline.

Price of Child Tickets
On most airlines, infants between the ages of 0 to 2 are able to fly for free on domestic flights as they are able to sit on their parent/guardians' lap. However, children over the age of 2 must pay for a flight ticket and have their own seat on the aircraft. Many airlines will only chargebetween 50% to 80% of an adult ticket, for a child flight ticket. This means that children's tickets are often cheaper than adult tickets, meaning that you'll save money on flights.

Infants
Buying a ticket for an infant can be a little confusing, as you may be uncertain about which type of flight ticket to buy for your child. Infants aged between 0 and 2 won't need to pay for a flight ticket on most flights, as they are able to sit on a parent's lap.
If you wish to add an infant to your booking then select the '+' button next to the infant section. Although the price of a flight ticket for an infant might be free, it allows for the airline to track how many people will be onboard and what facilities will be needed. If you're travelling with an infant you can request a cot or a bassinet, depending on the airline you're flying with.
In no circ*mstances are infants allowed to travel alone.

If your child is aged between 2 and 11 then add a 'Child' to your booking. However, if your child is over the age of 11 then they shall be considered as an 'Adult'.
