Bruce Springsteen Slams Trump: 'Consigned to the Trash Heap of History' – Full Interview (2025)

Bruce Springsteen has made it abundantly clear that he is completely indifferent to President Donald Trump's opinions about him. In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the iconic musician, known for his powerful anthem "Born in the U.S.A.," shared his thoughts on the current political climate and his criticisms of the Trump administration. During a performance in May as part of The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour, Springsteen did not hold back, expressing his discontent with the state of America under Trump's leadership.

He stated, "In my home, the America I cherish, the America I’ve celebrated in my music for the past 250 years, is now under the control of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration." He urged his audience to stand up for democracy, saying, "Tonight we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!"

In response, Trump took to Truth Social to dismiss Springsteen's remarks, labeling him as "dumb as a rock" and criticizing his appearance, calling him a "dried out 'prune' of a rocker" whose skin is "all atrophied." Trump suggested that Springsteen should remain silent until he returns to the country, implying that the musician's relevance would be tested then.

Springsteen, however, remains steadfast in his beliefs. He told Time, "If I’m going to stay true to who I’ve tried to be, I can’t give these guys a free pass. A lot of people bought into his lies. He doesn’t care about the forgotten anyone but himself and the multibillionaires who stood behind him on Inauguration Day."

He also pointed out a troubling reality: "You have to face the fact that a good number of Americans are simply comfortable with his politics of power and dominance." This observation raises an important question about the current political landscape and the values that resonate with many citizens.

When it comes to Trump's opinions about him, Springsteen stated, "I absolutely couldn’t care less what he thinks about me. He’s the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for. If Congress had any guts, he’d be consigned to the trash heap of history."

Yet, Springsteen did not reserve his criticism solely for Trump. He expressed concern about the Democratic Party as well, saying, "We’re desperately in need of an effective alternative party, or for the Democratic Party to find someone who can speak to the majority of the nation. There is a problem with the language that they’re using and the way they’re trying to reach people."

This raises a provocative question: Is the Democratic Party failing to connect with the American public? What do you think? Are we witnessing a political landscape that is out of touch with the needs and desires of the people? Share your thoughts in the comments!
