Chaos Theory (Harriet) Visionary Lead – Deathloop walkthrough and tips (2024)

Now that we’ve figured out Deathloop’s Infusion and Residuum, our next Visionary Arsenal Lead is “Chaos Theory.” We’ll head to Karl’s Bay in the morning, find Harriet Morse, and claim her Nexus Slab.

Polygon’s Deathloop “Chaos Theory” guide will help you bump off Harriet Morse and seize Harriet’s Nexus Slab. We’ll give you advice on your Loadout, and then walk you through the infiltrate Hangar 2, scour Harriet’s office, bump off Harriet, and seize Harriet’s Nexus Slab steps of this Lead. With the Nexus Slab in hand (literally), we’ll Infuse it to make it permanent, and then fully upgrade it by killing Harriet two more times. We’ll also show you where to pick up a fancy weapon a little later in the day.

Loadout

With your first set of Infused gear, you’ll have an extra gun when you start this loop, but not much more. Grab whatever you want (or have). As always, make sure your Spring Heeled double-jump Trinket is equipped.

Bump off Harriet and Sieze Harriet’s Nexus Slab

We’ve got two Leads this time. “Bump of Harriet” tells us:

Both Harriet and Frank are only taking morning appointments. Let’s see if the self-help guru can help me find the inner strength to kill them both.

And “Seize Harriet’s Nexus Slab” reads:

Harriet holds the Nexus Slab. I’ve gotta take it from her remains.

The Nexus Slab allows you to link multiple people together, so that killing one will kill everyone linked. That’s sure to come in handy later.

Chaos Theory

Our Deathloop guides aren’t the only path through this district. You can take whatever path you want with as much stealth or combat as you see fit. Our guide focuses on the path(s) that lead to every clue and Lead, letting you pick up any useful weapons along the way, while generally avoiding combat.

We’re going to take a very quick detour to pick up something before we set out. In the tunnels, take the right path.

At the end of the hallway, watch for an Eternalist walking along the cliff edge — you can ignore him. Your goal is the crate along the right side. Pick up the Heckin’ Good Plan document.

Turn around and head back into the tunnels. Use the other exit this time and head back out.

Use the concrete barriers for cover as you cross the street toward the Forever Young Drunk mural. Handle the graffiti artist out front.

Crouch as you enter the building.

There’s an Eternalist off to the right as you enter. Go dispatch them. Check the tables for ammo and the Unethical Waffling cassette.

About this time, you’ll hear Harriet over the PA system and get the next clue in this Lead.

Infiltrate Hangar 2

Not a seminar! It’s some kind of ceremony with Harriet as the emcee. If she wants to put on a show, I should help her with the finale.

Take a left toward the open window/balcony. There’ll be a “Chaos = Freedom” billboard in the distance. We’re aiming to head between that billboard and the church on the right.

Use the balcony to jump across to the next rooftop. Immediately crouch and cross the peak of the roof. Handle the Eternalist sitting there.

Jump across the street and use the path to pass the church and reach Hangars 1 and 2.

There are three Eternalists out front. Take them out as quietly as you can and head through the front doors of Hangar 1.

Hangar 1

Inside, keep to the right and hop through he broken window into the offices.

Stay crouched, and grab the PT-6 Spiker from the table on your left. Take out the three Eternalists inside.

Take the stairs up to the second level. Follow the walkway around and you’ll find a hall (skybridge, really) to Hangar 2. Crouch and open the doors. At the other end, Harriet’s ceremony will begin. Sneak forward and a little left to hide behind a metal sheet while she talks.

Scour Harriet’s Office

Harriet’s surrounded by loyal followers — hardly ideal for assassination. Maybe there’s another opportunity to take her out.

Harriet’s office is directly to your left, but the door is locked. Instead, look up. Double jump up to the gantry and cross to the far side of the hangar. You’ll drop off onto a ceiling.

Image: Arkane Studios/Bethesda Softworks via Polygon

There’s a hole in ceiling here — use it to get an angle on the Eternalist directly under you — he’s the only one we really have to worry about right now.

Take a left and head for the wall. (There’s a shotgun here if you want to get loud.)

Harriet will be giving a speech from the glass bubble tail gun turret sticking out of the wall just below you. Hug the wall and face her. Drop down two floors — if you stick close to the wall and stay crouched, no one will notice you.

You’ll land next to an overhead door. Use the crank wheel to the left to pull it most of the way open. Once you can, duck underneath it — it’ll crash down, so be quick.

Quietly climb the stairs, and then turn back the way you came. Double jump up to the floor above you. Stay crouched and cross this floor. There’s an Eternalist graffitiing the wall here. Take them out. At the far side, go through the door into Harriet’s Quarters.

Stay crouched in here so no one sees you from outside. Turn left and disarm the laser mines across the window. Just below them, there’s a bookshelf. The The Sixty-Second Minute: Harriet Morse document is on the bottom shelf.

Grab the gun from under her pillow, and then check out the Minicom on her desk. This will give us a Lead on Frank to follow up on next.

Bump off Harriet

By this point, Harriet will be up on the same floor as you. Turn right from the Minicom and watch for her marker. She’ll wander around her loft area a little. Be patient, and she’ll head for the microphone setup. Sneak up behind her and snap her neck.

Claim all of her Trinkets and gun, absorb her Residuum, and then pick up the Nexus Slab.

Before you go too far, head down the stairs to the floor where Harriet was delivering her address earlier. Take out the two Eternalists, and check around the room for the Dear Diary and Eleanor documents.

Infuse the Nexus Slab

All that’s left is to make your way back to the exit. You’re safe to just retrace your route all the way back to the tunnels.

When you’re back in the menus, click on Loadout and Infuse Gear. Our first goal is to Infuse the Nexus Slab. Click on Slabs, and then hover over the Slab. It’ll cost you 15,000 Residuum.

You probably picked up a bunch of Trinkets and weapons, so run through the list and see what can be Sacrificed for a little more Residuum. Cash them in to infuse anything else you want to keep. We’re a big fan of the PT-6 Striker because a silent nail gun will be useful in almost any situation. It’ll cost 4,000 Residuum to Infuse.

Upgrade the Nexus Slab

Picking up the same Slab multiple times allows you to upgrade the power it grants, so let’s do that now. From the menu, fast-forward until morning, and select Karl’s Bay again. Repeat everything above and take out Harriet again.

Each upgrade costs 10,000 Residuum to Infuse, and each Slab has several upgrades. You can only have two equipped at a time, so keep taking out Harriet and Infusing upgrades until you’re happy with your loadout.

Now that the Nexus Slab is fully upgraded, let’s go see what that Heckin’ Good Plan was.

Heckin’ Good Plan

Fast-forward to afternoon and head into Karl’s Bay again. Take the right path out of the tunnels.

Image: Arkane Studios/Bethesda Softworks via Polygon

Follow the cliff edge down to the shore, and then look back to your right to spot the crashed sea plane. Carefully (remember that if you fall into the water, you’ll die) hop across the floes until you reach the plane. Deal with the two Eternalists and their turret.

Image: Arkane Studios/Bethesda Softworks via Polygon

Pick up the MG-1 Pepper Mill they looted. It’s a fine weapon and all, but you’ll need to Infuse it if you want to get any real use out of it. You’ll need 8,000 Residuum to do so. You might have a little left over from the your last encounter with Harriet. Otherwise, spend some time exploring Karl’s Bay and absorb as much as you can.

When you’re ready, head back to the bunker and Infuse your fun new gun.
