Over 100 indicators, 15+ different chart types, and 30+ drawing tools pop out as many charts at a time. Intraday data from 2015, and daily charts for equity, commodities, F&O, and currencies are available.
CHART TYPES:
Two types of charts are offered. ChartIQ and TradingView. ChartIQ charts are enabled by default. Change the default charting option to TradingView or vice versa by visiting kite.zerodha.com/profile.
Initiating charts¶
Shortcut key – C
Hover over the marketwatch and click Chart or use the shortcut key C to initiate charts.
Trade from charts¶
Place orders directly on the chart (only on ChartIQ). Click and drag them up and down to modify or cancel.
Place a Stop-loss order¶
Place a buy order above the current market price, and it will be treated as an SL buy order.
Place a sell order below the current market price, and it will be treated as an SL sell order.
Plot all open and executed orders on the chart.
Changing timeframes¶
By default, daily charts open up, which can be changed to any other time frame.
Chart types¶
Click on the Candle symbol to change the chart type. The chart type is candlestick by default.
Indicators/Studies¶
Click on Studies and search for the indicators to add indicators to the chart.
To add an exponential moving average, select moving average in studies, and in the type dropdown, select exponential from the list of 11 different moving averages.
Adding studies on different data sets¶
By default, indicators are applied to the closing price of the candle. This could be changed to open, high, low, and even over another indicator that is already added to the chart. Deleting studies¶
Right-click the study and click on Delete study.
Studies can also be deleted by going to the Studies section and clicking on X.
Select from over 30 different drawing tools. Use the settings to customise the drawing tool.
Compare instruments¶
Click on Compare to visualise the relative performance of different instruments on the chart. There are no live ticks when using this utility.
Multi-view chart¶
With multi-view charts, view up to 8 charts simultaneously on TradingView and 4 on ChartIQ in the same window.
To view multiple charts in TradingView, follow these steps:
- Click on the Select layout box.
- Select the number of charts.
- Click on the chart, click on the name and select the instrument.
To view multiple charts in ChartIQ, follow these steps:
- Click on the Settings symbol.
- Under multiple charts click on 2 charts or 4 charts.
- Enter the symbol names and click on Done.

More data¶
On complete zoom-out, 700 to 2500 bars can be viewed at a time based on the size of the monitor. To load more data, drag the chart to the right. Every drag will load more historical data. Use the left and right arrow keys to move, and use up and down arrows for zooming in and out.
On loading a lot of candles, to get to the current candle, use the >> button.
