I own aHP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC.

I recently just changed my internet carrier. The HP wont find the WiFi in the house. It finds everything else but that. I thought it was the internet itself, I have been through all the resets and changes, but still nothing. I was still convinced it was the carrier until my 12 year old brought his laptop out and connected to it!

So I have looked at all the support through HP followed all the steps. I have updated everything (although it all said it was on the updated version)

I clicked on properties on the TAP Driver and saw this message:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

I have tried to google all updates I needed bt unfortunately it goes over my head. If anyone is able to help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I will also make sure I write it down as I think this happened a few years ago.

The Code 10 error in Device Manager indicates that the operating system was unable to start a hardware device, and in this case, it's related to your network adapter. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Make sure to restart your HP Pavilion and see if the issue persists.

Update Network Adapter Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website and ensure you have the latest drivers for your network adapter.
  • Download and install the latest drivers. Even if it says the drivers are up-to-date, reinstalling them might help.
  • If you can't find the latest drivers on the HP website, you can go to the device manager, right-click on the network adapter with the issue, and choose "Update driver."

Rollback Drivers:

  • If you recently updated your network adapter drivers and the issue started afterward, you can try rolling back to the previous version. In the device manager, right-click on the network adapter, choose "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click on "Roll Back Driver" if available.
