Through this acquisition, Consensys intends to integrate Wallet Guard’s capabilities to further bolster MetaMask, the world’s leading self-custodial crypto wallet, with state-of-the-art security features ensuring users receive the utmost protection in web3.
Despite the industry’s commitment to safeguarding users, hacks and scams still persist in web3. According to the 2024 Crime Report by Chainalysis, over $1.7 billion worth of crypto was stolen from users through scams alone in 2023, following $3.7 billion in 2022 and over $3 billion in 2021.
