The CRB Commodity Index rose to 330 points, reflecting mixed performances among key commodities. Gold surged to record highs above $2,500 per ounce, driven by Fed Chair Jerome Powell's hints of a potential interest rate cut in September. Aluminum also gained, reaching a two-month high of $2,540 per tonne, buoyed by strong fund buying and an improved market outlook. Sugar prices hit a monthly peak of 19.1 cents per pound due to concerns over reduced production in Brazil and extreme weather in Thailand. On the downside, natural gas prices fell to a three-week low amid oversupply concerns, with storage levels 12.6% above the five-year average. Corn and soybeans both dropped to four-year lows, with corn at $3.6 per bushel and soybeans at $9.5 per bushel, pressured by better supply prospects, weaker demand, and forecasts of a record autumn harvest.
