Why didn't I receive the full PellGrant amount that was shown on my award letter?

Answer

Federal student aid regulations contain some restrictions that may affect the amount of your scheduled Pell Grant that you actually receive.Some of the most common reasons yourgrant fundsmay be reduced are:

  • You didn't enroll full time. Pell Grants are prorated for part-time enrollment,
  • You didn't begin attending all of your classes before the financial aid lock date. If that happens, Pell Grant regulations require that your PellGrant fundsbe recalculated to pay only for classes you began attending.
  • You're registered for a flexible-entry class that doesn't start until later in the semester.Your PellGrant fundswill be recalculated up to the new level after you begin attending your flex class.
  • One of your classes started later in the semester and you didn't register for the class at the beginning of the semester.Financial aiddoesn't pay for classesif you register after the financial aid lock date.
