Is it possible to retrieve Deleted Google Chat messages? ›

After you (or other members in a conversation) delete a message, the message is permanently removed from your Google Account and can't be recovered. You can download previously edited messages from your Google Account.

Google Messages doesn't have a trash bin. When you delete a message, you lose it permanently. However, it's possible you accidentally archived the texts. Archiving a conversation removes it from the main conversation list but doesn't delete the messages.

Once the user deletes a chat, it is removed from their account permanently. That is unless there is a retention rule in place. In which case, the administrator can retrieve the deleted Chat item from the Google Vault.

When you delete a message, it stays in your trash for 30 days. After 30 days, the message is permanently deleted from your account and can't be recovered.

Recover messages from your bin

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app . Bin. To the left of each message that you want to recover, tap the sender's profile image.

The only reliable way to retrieve deleted messages on Android is to access the backup file using Google Drive. To access the file and read the messages, go into the Google Drive associated with your husband's account on a computer. Scan the backup folder for the date you want to take a look at and open it.

Even when you 'permanently' clear messages, you're simply getting the phone to stop listing it in the deleted items folder. You can't recover such texts on the phone itself, but there are plenty of commercially available software packages you can buy that allow your PC to read data directly from a SIM card.

Deleted messages and attachments remain in the Recently Deleted folder for 30 days, but you can permanently remove them before that.

After you delete messages from your phone ,they don't just evaporate or disappear. The place that once stored that particular message is then marked as free or unused space. This space will eventualy be overwritten by some other data you put on your phone.
