What is the difference between Flushall and Flushdb? ›

Answer. To clear the Redis database, you have two main options: FLUSHDB : This command clears the current Redis database. FLUSHALL : This command clears all databases in the Redis instance.

There are two major commands to delete the keys present in Redis: FLUSHDB and FLUSHALL. We can use the Redis CLI to execute these commands. The FLUSHDB command deletes the keys in a database. And the FLUSHALL command deletes all keys in all databases.

Once you have selected the database, you can clear the cache by running the FLUSHDB command. This command will remove all the keys in the selected database. After running this command, all the data stored in the selected database will be deleted.

The DEL key command of Redis is used to delete a single key. To batch delete keys, you can combine the cat and xargs commands of Linux and the DEL command of Redis. If you want to delete keys that have the same prefix or suffix by using fuzzy match logic, we recommend that you use the SCAN and DEL commands of Redis.

The flushall() function clears all buffers associated with input streams, and writes any buffers associated with output streams. A subsequent read operation on an input file causes new data to be read from the associated file or device.

Data flushing, also known as data purging or data erasure, refers to the systematic and permanent removal of data from a company's databases or storage systems.

Start Redis Insight and connect to your database. From the Redis Insight menu, select Workbench and wait for the client to connect to your database. In the command area, enter flushall and then select the green run arrow. The 'OK' response indicates that the command executed properly.

Flush data from an Active-Active database

Go to database and select the Active-Active database that you want to flush. Go to configuration and click Flush at the bottom of the page. Enter the name of the Active-Active database to confirm that you want to flush the data.

Does restarting Redis clear the cache? ›

If a Redis server that only stores data in RAM is restarted, all data is lost. To prevent such data loss, there needs to be some mechanism for persisting the data to disk; Redis provides two of them: snapshotting and an append-only file, or AOF.

Unfortunately, as keys must be processed in 'batches', we are unable to delete key right after processing. Of course, we can issue 'DEL' command from Redis client in server process, but that will require to sent all processed keys back to Redis.

The DB->sync() method flushes all modified records from the database cache to disk. It is important to understand that flushing cached information to disk only minimizes the window of opportunity for corrupted data, it does not eliminate the possibility.

fflush() works on FILE* , it just flushes the internal buffers in the FILE* of your application out to the OS. fsync works on a lower level, it tells the OS to flush its buffers to the physical media. OSs heavily cache data you write to a file. If the OS enforced every write to hit the drive, things would be very slow.
