Who owns Desert Financial Credit Union? ›

As a not-for-profit credit union owned by our members, we can give more back to our members and community. Fifteen Arizona teachers pooled their money together to start our credit union in 1939. We're proud to have more than 400,000 members and over $8.2 billion in assets.

We believe in sharing success, and as a not-for-profit credit union, we can give more back to our members, community and team.

History. Desert Financial was originally named Arizona Educational Association (A.E.A.) #1 Federal Credit Union and was chartered in 1939 to serve the financial needs of area teachers.

Credit unions like Desert Financial are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), while banks are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Only one requirement

Live, work, attend school, volunteer or worship in our membership coverage area, which includes all of Arizona (with the exception of Apache, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz counties) OR. Be an immediate family member of a current Desert Financial member OR. Be an employee of Desert Financial.

For Free Checking accounts, the daiy ATM withdrawal limit is $500. For Money Market, Business Checking and Business Checking Plus accounts, the daily ATM withdrawal limit is $1,500.

Desert Financial membership lasts as long as you keep a minimum of $25 in your membership savings account. If you close your account, you may join again if you meet the current eligibility requirements.

Can I transfer money from Desert Financial to another bank? ›

Yes, you can do so in Online Banking and the app by clicking on “Transfers” and then adding your accounts for other financial institutions. Visit any Desert Financial branch or contact the Member Engagement Center at (602) 433-7000 if you need further assistance.
