Ingredient Notes

  • Nuts- I used pecans and pistachios because they are sweet and buttery. They pair well with the sweeter items on this board.
  • Cheese- Brie is a good choice because it’s soft and rich with buttery and fruity flavors.
  • Fruit- Any fruit will work, but I like my Dessert Charcuterie Board with fresh berries, like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
  • Cookies- Use homemade or store-bought cookies for this board. I love Milano cookies on here, as well as wafer cookies and rolls. You can also use Christmas cookies.
  • Snacks- Wafers, pretzels, caramels, and popcorn are all great sweet and salty treats to add.

Add-ins and Substitutions

  • Add dips and sauces- Add dips to the board, such aschocolate ganache, whipped cream, buttercream frosting, homemade Strawberry Jam, or caramel sauce.
  • Substitute other nuts- You can make your Dessert Charcuterie Board with toasted walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, cashews, or Brazil nuts.
  • Add other fruit- Prepare this board with apple slices, pears, grapes, mango, pineapple, kiwi, blackberries, and sugared cranberries, too.
  • Substitute other cheeses- Make this board with different cheeses, such as blue cheese, mascarpone, gouda, white Stilton, or cheddar.

How to Make a Dessert Charcuterie Board

  • Add the larger items. Assemble the items from largest to smallest, interspersing the different sized fruits and snacks for a prettier appearance. Start with strawberries and cookies.
  • Add the medium-sized items. Now add in the medium-sized items, such as thechocolate pretzels, popcorn, chocolate bars, andcaramels.
  • Place the smaller items last. Finally, add in the smallest items, such as blueberries, raspberries, and nuts. Then serve.

Pro Tip: Always add items from largest to smallest so everything is visible on the board, making it much more visually appealing.

Recipe Tips

  • Prep the ingredients- So that you have all the ingredients together and ready for assembly, sort the berries, toast the nuts, slice the cheese, and open the snacks.
  • Assemble the largest items first- This keeps the smaller items, like nuts and small berries, from being covered by the larger items, like strawberries and pretzels.
  • Separate the larger items-Make sure to scatter them so there aren’t any clustered sections with large items.
  • Keep the refrigerated items cool- While you’re waiting to serve this Dessert Charcuterie Board, keep the fruit and cheeses in the fridge, adding them right before you put the board out.

Fresh and dried fruit, nuts, cheese, pretzels, cookies, brownies with sprinkles, candies like caramel or candy canes, other sweets like jelly beans, dips like chocolate ganache, and popcorn are all great options for a sweet dessert charcuterie board. Adding some salty snacks to the sweet makes the flavors really pop.

What are good dessert cheeses?

You want to pick a dessert cheese that pairs well with the other items on your Dessert Charcuterie Board, such as the nuts and fruit. Some great options for a dessert cheese are gouda, blue cheese, brie, goat cheese, havarti, ricotta, and mascarpone.

Make This Recipe in Advance

Make ahead: Depending on what you put on your dessert board, you can assemble it and just cover it with plastic wrap a day ahead of time. If there are berries, ,cheese or other refrigerable items, it would be best to add them right before serving.

Storing: Store any leftovers by placing each item on the charcuterie board separately in the fridge or at room temperature (depending on what they are) in an airtight container.

Freeze: Some things on your charcuterie board can be frozen, such as nuts or cookies, but others will not fair as well, such as fruit that thaws mushy.
