Digital Solutions - How to disable USB power management Windows 7 machines
Applies to: USB Power Management
On windows 10:
- Open Device Manager
- Click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers
- Double Click on each Device or Hub listed and go to thePower Management Tab
- Turn off or uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
- May need to reboot the PC for changes to apply.
On windows 7:
- Open the Control Panel.
- Find Power Options.
- Click on Change Power Plan/Settings.
- Click Advanced Power Settings.
- Find USB Settings - disable both boxes here.
- Save and close.
- Go to Device Manager (Right-click MY Computer. Select Manage | Device Manager.)
- Find the first listed USB Root Hub.
- Double-click and go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck both boxes here.
- Repeat for each additional USB Root Hub.
- Reboot when all are completed.
