Stripe may require additional documentation to verify the identity and home address of individuals connected to a Stripe account. To verify this information, individuals must provide proof of identity and proof of home address, ensuring that the documents meet specific requirements such as being in color, clear, and not expired. These documents must be uploaded through the Stripe Dashboard, and reviews can take up to 24 hours to complete.
If Stripe is not able to automatically verify your identity, Stripe may request additional documentation in order to verify the individuals connected to a Stripe account. Users in in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, will need to provide two separate documents:
- one as Proof of Identity
- one as Proof of Home Address

Document requirements
The information in these documents must match the information on your Stripe account. Confirm that the Stripe account personal information in your Dashboard is correct before documents are uploaded. Clicking Edit beside your personal details to make any changes.
Both Proof of ID and Proof of Home Address document uploads must be successfully reviewed and matched to the information in your Stripe account before your identity can be verified. Reviews can take up to 24 hours.
Each document must meet specific requirements in order to be accepted for verification.
Proof of Identity document requirements:
Document must be:
- Uploaded in full color (no black-and-white scans)
- Valid and not expired
- Clear and large enough to read
- Complete documents must be uploaded. A complete document is defined as:
- Both front and back of a driver’s license or identity card
- The entire personal information page of a passport
- Uploaded in .png or .jpg format (photos and color scans acceptable)
- If the ID is from the Netherlands, make sure your citizen service number (BSN) is not visible in the photo.
- Photocopies of identity documents are not acceptable
Proof of Home Address document requirements
Documents must be:
- Clear and large enough to read
- Dated within the past six months
- Complete documents must be uploaded. A complete document is defined as:
- At least one full page of the document
- The full name and address of the individual are clearly stated and legible
- Uploaded in .png, .jpg, or .pdf format
Uploading your verification documents
Due to the highly sensitive nature of your verification documents, Stripe can only accept documents which are uploaded through the Dashboard. Do not send documents by email.
In the Dashboard, banners will direct you to the correct location to upload any required documents.
