On my iphone 7, when I opened wallet app and selected a card to use for payment, all I had to then enter was my passcode. On my iphone 14 I have to do an extra step of double click once I have selected a card and before entering passcode . How do I avoid / disable the extra step ?
iPhone 14, iOS 17

Face ID is technically more secure than passcode and personally greater security is progress as far as I’m concerned and I’d hazard to guess most users prefer greater security.
You can setup AssistiveTouch and set it to use Facial ID, bypassing the double click. Most people I’ve assisted with setting it up have turn it off and found it annoying. Apple created it, I think, for those that for various reasons can’t double click.

You can’t really. The first double click opens the Wallet and readies the default payment method. The second double click activates Facial ID, a required step to initiate the transaction.

Hardly what I would call progress, going from zero double clicks to two double clicks (or one in my case as I open the wallet by tapping the app on my home screen).
