Possibly someone with a very similar username entered your username by mistake when trying to sign in. When that user's password did not work, the user requested a code to try to sign in -- which would go to your email, since it was your account the user was inadvertently trying to sign into.

You might receive such a code if someone tries and fails to sign in to your account, possibly someone with a similar username or email address that has entered your username by mistake. The user may be trying to reset the password of their account without realizing they are trying to sign in to your account.

Someone with a similar user ID or email address may have mis-typed, couldn't get in, and likely attempted to sign in too many times. Whether they were fraudsters or not, they didn't get into your account because the security code was sent to you. Unless you were directed to contact eBay, there is no need to.

Talk to Your Vendor: If you're bombarded by random verification code texts, it's a red flag. Contact the service provider immediately to get to the root of the issue. They can investigate and help secure your account.
