How do I get full text on EBSCO? ›

When you click the title of an article, the "Best View" selected by your library administrator is displayed. To view a different format, click on the Detailed Record, HTML full text or PDF icon.

Using Quotation Marks

Typically, when a phrase is enclosed by double quotations marks, the exact phrase is searched. This is not true of phrases containing stop words. A stop word will never be searched for in an EBSCO database, even if it is enclosed in double quotation marks.

Full Text Finder (FTF) is a next-generation solution that includes a knowledge base, holdings management tool, publication finder and link resolver. FTF integrates with EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and EBSCO FOLIO to provide users with fast and reliable access to full text.

Enter your search terms in the Find field on the Basic Search screen. Click the Search Options link, if you would like to use any of the optional Limiters or Expanders. To close the Search Options, click the link again. Select a specific search mode, such as "Find all of my search terms," or "SmartText Searching."

Click the Advanced Search link below the search box on the Basic search screen. Your institution's administrator may set Advanced Search as the default search screen for EBSCO Discovery Service making it available when you log in. Enter your search terms in the first search box on the Advanced Search screen.

To search for an exact phrase (where the words are in a specific order), type quotation marks around your search terms. If you do not include quotation marks, you will get results with items that contain the individual words in the phrase, but they may not necessarily be located together or in the order you want.

It includes full-text, indexing and abstracts for journals covering all related subjects, including librarianship, classification, cataloging and information management.

Most library databases link to the full text of an article as a PDF for other full text link options. If there is only an abstract or summary of an article in one of the library's article databases, click on the PDF or "Online full text" options to read, download, or print the article.

This example will use the TX All Text option, which will search for "social media" in multiple areas in a record: the title, summary, abstract, subject headings, and the full text (if available). This option casts a wide net, so it is a good place to start your search!

For those available in full text, beneath each article in your results list you will find a Full text link. Where the journal has been fully digitised you will see a Full text - PDF link. ProQuest databases also index some open access journals.
