Love can be a beautiful thing, but what happens when it crosses the line into obsession? That's the question at the heart of 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat,' the romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. This film, which hit theaters during Diwali, is now gearing up for its online premiere, and here's what you need to know.
'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' made its theatrical debut on October 21, 2025, going up against another film called 'Thamma'. While it's still playing in some cinemas, the buzz is all about its upcoming release on Netflix. The movie is expected to land on the streaming platform within 45 to 60 days after its initial release.
The film tells the story of Vikramaditya, a politician, who falls for the free-spirited Adaa. However, their love story takes a dark turn as his feelings become obsessive. Harshvardhan Rane plays Vikramaditya Bhonsle, and Sonam Bajwa portrays Adaa Randhawa. The supporting cast includes Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, and Rajesh Khera.
But here's where it gets controversial... The film faced some modifications from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). These included trimming a shot, removing a visual, deleting a dialogue, replacing the word “Raavan” with “villain”, removing all dialogue referencing the epic Ramayana, and substituting “maal” with “ladki”.
Harshvardhan Rane has been quoted as saying, “I stand by CBFC policies as they are meant to safeguard our cultural values and avoid any unintentional harm to Indian sensibilities. If they believe the word Raavan should be replaced with villain, I completely support their decision. As for the audience, if a film isn’t great, even a U/A certificate can’t save it. But if it’s a good film, the audience will turn it into a superhit.”
Another challenge for the film was its advance bookings. Despite the Diwali release, 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' reportedly had fewer screens compared to its competitor, and its bookings opened later. Harshvardhan Rane commented, “I have a double PhD in being taken lightly. I secretly enjoy being underestimated because it fuels my quiet fire. Our first day of advance booking was affected, but I’m glad corrections were made. In the short term, underestimation may impact a film, but in the long run, it only strengthens my resolve. I believe in the power of romance in the eyes, resilience in the heart, and the audience’s final verdict.”
And this is the part most people miss... The film has received mixed reviews. The makers have not officially announced the OTT release date.
