If it looks like the box below (Figure 4.1) with the 'Add to Trusted Certificates' button disabled, then it is likely that you did not ticket the 'Use this certificate as a trusted root' tickbox as shown in Figure 3.6 above. To solve this you will have to remove the certificate and re-add it.

SSL/TLS certificates, code signing certificates, and device certificates play vital roles in establishing trust, securing data transmission, verifying app authenticity, and establishing device trust.

Trusted certificates establish a chain of trust that verifies other certificates signed by the trusted roots — for example, to establish a secure connection to a web server. When IT administrators create Configuration Profiles, these trusted root certificates don't need to be included.

Remember that trusted credentials are primarily designed to provide more protection for your Android. So, only disable this when you suspect spyware from a specific certificate.

To enable the Certificate enrollment policy for user certificates expand User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings and click Public Key Policies. Double click Certificate Services Client - Certificate Enrollment Policy. In the Configuration Model menu, select Enabled. Click OK.

The trusted root certificates have been verified by Adobe and other authorities to meet specific technical requirements. They represent high assurance identity and signing credentials. The certificates include government and citizen credentials from across the world.

Open the Preferences dialog box (hamburger Menu (Windows) or the Acrobat menu (macOS) > Preferences). From the Categories on the left, select Trust Manager. Select the option Load trusted certificates from an Adobe AATL server.

Important: Removing certificates you've installed doesn't remove the permanent system certificates that your device needs to work. But if you remove a certificate that a certain Wi-Fi connection requires, your device may not connect to that Wi-Fi network anymore.

Installing a trusted root certificate is necessary only if you are notified that the certificate of authority is not trusted on any machine. This can occur when you use a private or custom certificate server instead of acquiring certificates from an established public certificate of authority.

Android's root certificates exist in the read-only partition /system/etc/security/cacerts. Viewing the installed root certificates on Android depends on the Android version you're using.

Find the certificate you want to remove and right-click on it. Select Properties. Then, in the General tab, in the section called Certificate purposes, select the Disable all purposes for this certificate radio button and then click Apply.
