Depending on the wallet that you use, the exact steps might vary but they usually go by a somewhat similar process as below:
Look for the Send option on your wallet.
If your wallet holds more than one type of tokens, be sure to select the right type of token for the transaction.
In the To or Recipient field, insert the recipient's address (we strongly recommend to copy and paste the recipient's address instead of retyping it manually).
Alternatively, you can also scan the recipient's QR code.
Enter the amount that you wish to send.
Set the gas price and gas limit accordingly. You can also use our Gas Tracker feature to check the recommended settings (normal transactions would usually need 21,000 gas limit, for internal transactions please set a higher gas limit).
Proceed with the transaction. This is usually done by clicking Send.
To check the status of your transaction, insert the transaction hash (also called as Transaction ID) of this transaction into the search bar at https://etherscan.io/.
(Please note that gas fee is deductible from the remaining balance in the address, not from the sent amount. Be sure to always have a sufficient ETH balance in your wallet to use as gas fee.)
Etherscan is a block explorer for the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to easily search and browse transactions and blocks. It also provides information about each transaction and block, such as the hash and timestamp. You can think of Etherscan as the Google of Ethereum.
Can I withdraw my funds from Etherscan? No. As a block explorer, we only provide a platform that lets users look up, confirm and validate transactions and other data that are publicly available on the Ethereum blockchain.
Yes, Etherscan is safe to use, but users should still remain vigilant while trading. For example, if you're looking to trade ETH or any other asset with an address that's not known to you, while you might find it on Etherscan itself, it's prudent to look up the wallet's ledger and see if there are no issues.
The easiest way to do this is by sending a 0 ETH transaction to your own address with the same nonce and a higher gas price. This will cancel out your first transaction.
Reporting a cryptocurrency scam can also help you recoup your losses. The sooner you report it, the better the chances of authorities being able to track down the scammers and recover any stolen funds. In some cases, reporting a scam can also lead to compensation or reimbursem*nt for victims.
On Etherscan, select Contract > Write Contract. Click Connect to Web3 and connect your wallet using your preferred non-custodial wallet (e.g. MetaMask).
Click Claim and fill in the metadata you found above. Remove all the quotes ( " ) from the merkleProof field.
