With more than 120,000 Indian students studying in the UK in 2021-2022, Indian students make up among the largest international student communities in the UK. Over the past few years, the number of Indian students, choosing to study and live in the UK, has increased consistently every year. As students aspire to earn globally recognised academic degrees and high-quality education from some of the top universities of the world.
The UK, saw a 50% YoY increase in the number of Indian students studying in the country in 2021-22 as per data by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This stands testimony to Indian students’ increasing preference for the UK as their study abroad destination for a variety of reasons, including the wide range of subjects, the number of scholarship opportunities, and globally acclaimed courses.
With its long history of welcoming international students from around the globe, the UK offers Indian students an academic and living experience that is hard to beat globally, thanks to an affordable cost of living, inclusive and diverse culture, and a safe student-friendly environment.
Experts now believe that the recent initiatives launched by the UK government like the Graduate Route and Young Professionals Scheme have been major contributors to the rise in students opting for the UK. Also, the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications agreement signed by India and the UK last year – to officially recognise each other’s academic degrees and high educational qualifications – will enable more Indians to apply to study and live in the UK.
While the interest for studying in the UK remains high, many students, and their parents and mentors find the thought of applying to study and live in the UK, daunting. To address this challenge and help students get all the tools, resources, and know-how they need, the Economictimes.com will be hosting an interactive learning forum, titled Study and Live in the UK, to deep-dive into everything they need to know. The event is being presented by the EconomicTimes.com, in collaboration with the British Council, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), and British Universities International Liaison Association (BUILA).
