Experience (2024)

“King Level indicates the strength of your king and towers.”

The amount of Experience points a player has determines their King Level. Experience cannot be gained by simply battling. Experience is gained by upgrading Cards and donating cards to clanmates. Experience gained from donations vary based on the card type donated (1 Common Card is worth 1 , while 1 Rare or Epic Card is worth 10 ). Experience gained from upgrading Cards varies from the rarity to the amount of times the player has upgraded them. You will earn more from upgrading higher level Cards. The amount that you earn depends on the level of the card you upgrade.

Unlockables

• Every time a player levels up, they are rewarded with a Level-Up Chest. A Level-Up Chest contains Gold, Gems, Cards, and Wild Cards.
• Level 2 unlockes more deck slots. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 2.
• Level 3 unlocks card donations with clanmates. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 3.
• Level 5 unlocks Magic Items and name changing that can be done at any time afterwards in the Settings menu, the first time being free. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 4.
• Level 6 unlocks Daily Tasks.
• Level 7 unlocks Pass Royale and 1 Evolution slot in decks. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 5.
• Level 8 unlocks Tournaments and Events.
• Level 9 unlocks Star Points.
• Level 10 unlocks Clan Wars and the ability to use Duel Decks. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 6.
• Level 14 unlocks Card Mastery. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 7.
• Level 16 unlocks the ability to use Trade Tokens to exchange cards with clanmates.
• Level 18 unlocks Classic and Grand Challenges, and Royal Tournaments. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 8.
• Level 22 increases the level of your King Tower to 9.
• Level 26 unlocks a new chest cycle, which also has Gold Crates, Plentiful Gold Crates, Overflowing Gold Crates, and Royal Wild Chests. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 10.
• Level 30 unlocks a new chest cycle. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 11.
• Level 34 unlocks a new chest cycle. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 12.
• Level 38 unlocks a new chest cycle. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 13.
• Level 42 unlocks a new chest cycle. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 14.
• Starting from Level 51, a random Evolution Shard will be given as a reward, replacing the Level-Up Chest. This is repeated every 2 Levels, representing the odds, with each other Level, representing the evens, still rewarding the player with Level-Up Chests.
• Level 54 unlocks an additional Evolution slot. It also increases the level of your King Tower to 15.

History

2016

• 12 King Levels were present during Clash Royale's game launch on 4/1/2016.
• On 11/1/2016, the First Update, increased the Experience needed to reach Level 9 from Level 8 by 25%.
• King Level 13 was added in 3/5/2016, in the May 2016 Update. Experience required for level 11 and 12 were adjusted.

2018

• On 5/12/2018, the December 2018 Update, added Star Points for excess Experience when players reach Level 13, and retroactively awarded Star Points for previously leftover Experience.

2021

• King Level 14 was added in 27/10/2021, the Champions Update. Experience required for level 11, 12, and 13 were adjusted. The King's Journey was also added.
• On 4/11/2021, a maintenance break, fixed the migration bug that caused some low-Level players to migrate directly to King Level 14.

2022

• On 26/10/2022, the 2022 Quarter 3 Update, revamped the King Level system. King Level is no longer tied to the level of your Crown Towers, and the highest King Level no longer determines the highest Card Level. King Levels 15-50 were added, with the Experience required for Levels 1 to 14 being decreased. The highest Card level and King Tower level remained at 14.

2023

• On 19/6/2023, the Card Evolution Update, added King Levels 51-70.

Trivia

• Since the release of the Monk Card, if a player upgraded every Card to Level 14, they would reach King Level 50 with 208,553 Star Points, assuming they have never donated or completed any Achievements before their removal or Card Mastery Tasks.
