What is a fated engram from xur? ›

A Fated Engram, sometimes also called an Isochronal Engram, is an Exotic Engram bought from Xûr in Destiny 2. It costs 97 Legendary Shards and gives the player an Exotic or an Exotic Armor piece that is yet to be found.

1 exotic engram, 30,000 glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard. This may reduce the pool size a bit, but you're still at the mercy of what, a 1 in 3, 1 in 9 chance, something like that, depending on the expansion, in terms of your ability to get what you're actually looking for.

Opening Bright Engrams: Bright Engrams are placed in the Character's Engram Inventory and can be opened by visiting an Eververse Trading Co. storefront. Seasonal Offerings: Eververse Trading Co. will offer new Bright Engrams with each new Season in Destiny 2.

Prime Engrams drop after around 16 blue engrams (or 6 legendary engrams). Yellow bar bosses count for about 20 normal kills so farming them can make this faster. Bright Dust is a currency used to buy applicable items from the Eververse store and previously, the Tribute Hall. They used to be occasionally rewarded from Seasonal Engrams, however instead can now occasionally be rewarded from Eververse Engrams.

Typically Exotic engrams only give you Exotics you've already gotten anyway. Exotic Engrams only naturally (unfocused) decrypt into world-drop exotics and non-world drop exotic armor (Legend Lost Sectors, Legendary Campaigns, etc.) when you've already acquired them.

One of the first things you'll notice is the opportunity to purchase an Exotic Engram, which instantly drops random weapons (if you don't already own them) or armor.

Xur will have one quest every week named "Xenology." This quest tasks you with playing ritual activities in Destiny 2—Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit. Exotic missions complete Xenology the fastest, including The Whisper and Zero Hour. Complete the quest, speak to Xur, and you'll earn one Exotic Cipher.

Anecdotally, the chance of obtaining one from a Bright Engram is quite low, hovering around a 10% chance.

However, the drop rate from engrams is randomized, so it is not guaranteed that the desired item will come. Another way of getting Sunbracers is by buying them directly from Xur whenever the Exotic gauntlets show up in his sales inventory rotation.
