Health and well-being are a priority for many. Whether training for a marathon, focusing on gains at the gym, aiming to hit 10,000 steps a day, or making sure we get enough shut-eye, plenty of us have a goal we're working towards to make us healthier and happier. For a lot of people, therefore, a fitness tracker is a priority - it makes keeping an eye on progress so much easier with automated tracking and handy observations.

However, the top smartwatches and fitness trackers can cost a pretty penny, and added to the cost of running trainers, gym memberships or PT sessions, it can quickly become a splurge too far. Now, however, the Google Fitbit Charge 6 is down to £108.99 from £139.99 on Amazon and can offer shoppers all the essential features they need on their health journey.

The watch, which can be paired with any smartphone with iOS 15 phone or higher or Android OS 9 or higher, has similar features to other brands such as the Apple Watch or Garmin but for a cheaper price.

When using the Fitbit Charge 6, shoppers have access to their heart rate, a built in GPS, and can track over 40 exercises as well as all day activity tracking. Users can also see their fitness age and receive reminders to stand up and walk about - the perfect push on those days when they don’t feel like moving.

Plus, with the Fitbit Charge 6, users can leave their phone behind while out for a run. The watch gives access to Google Maps, Google Wallet, music controls, phone calls, and text alerts, timers and stopwatches all from the wrist.

Sleep is an essential part of any health and fitness regimen, and the Fitbit Charge 6 offers automatic sleep tracking, a personalised sleep profile and gives users a detailed sleep score if they have a premium membership - which is included for six months when buying the watch - making it easy to learn whether they're getting enough rest.

If customers are loyal Apple fans, they could instead opt for the Apple Watch SE 2024 from Argos for £219 which is available in colours blue, black and champagne. The Apple Watch gives shoppers access to health details, fitness workouts, sleep tracking and a heart rate monitor.

Another choice could be the Garmin Venu 2 Smartwatch for £179.99 from Boots, which can review stress levels, give a sleep score and also track workouts. Customers have, however, given the Fitbit Charge 6 a 4.2 out of 5-star rating from 1,690 reviews on the Amazon site. One shopper wrote: “Great item, I don’t use it to its full potential, but it's great for keeping me motivated to move."

“Great product. Does so much for a 'little watch', said another.

"So many features. Lightweight, good battery life, and the screen is nice and clear. It doesn’t seem to be affected by water, and the connectivity is really good to your phone! Would recommend."

Another buyer said: “Reliable and at a good price. Purchased to replace an earlier model. Excellent product and easy to operate.”

Some buyers found that it didn't quite meet their needs, however. One said: “I bought my Fitbit just to record my fitness and gym routine, but unfortunately, it has fallen short. It’s a good watch, but it doesn’t help or assist me with ongoing goals and targets.”

Another noted the importance of checking the length of the strap prior to purchasing: “The reviews for this were great, so I ordered it! As soon as I tried the Fitbit, it was clear the strap was too small.”

However, for a decent 22% discount on a high-powered fitness tracker, the Google Fitbit Charge 6 sounds like a solid option for tracking health and fitness goals.
