Airbnb recently introduced a new category of properties titled ‘OMG’ which captures the most luxurious, unique, and exclusive accommodations listed on the site. These properties stand out from the rest with their next-level amenities, outstanding service, and high-end furnishings. Many of them come with private chefs and chauffeurs, private pools and hot tubs, and large outdoor areas with BBQs and fire pits. Some properties also feature singular architecture from UFO-style structures, mirrored houses that blend into the landscape, and treehouses plucked from a fairytale. Listing will often include complimentary breakfast, fine linens and towels, and a personal concierge to assist you with any special requests.
Here’s a look at five fabulous properties for your next holiday.

Area 51 Futuro House, Ohoka, Canterbury, New Zealand, $316
Let’s see: Free pickup in a Tesla; winner of Airbnb’s unique stay of the year 2022; and lodging inside a spaceship-style 1974 Futuro house (1 of only 50 in the world)? This 4-bed, 1 bath fully-restored UFO definitely deserves the OMG category nod. Inside, find genuine rare furniture from designers such as verner panton and Luigi colani. The property has a pool, spa, sauna, outdoor shower and a 1968 concord caravan for extra sleeping if required. The space 25 minutes from Christchurch Central Business District and Christchurch Airport. Rates now start at $316.
Casa VO Arquitectura Vanguardista, Brisas de Zicatela, Oaxaca, Mexico, $310
This 2-bed, 1 bath concrete curiosity is the brainchild of Ludwig Godefroy. Located near Oaxaca, the concept is meant to invert the traditional model of a “house with a garden” and transform it into a “garden with a house.” The design removed what Godefroy deemed unnecessary like finishes, doors, and windows, and kept only the essentials including a V-slab, adjoining walls, mezzanine, and front gate. This allowed for a larger and more generous space. Don’t worry, you’ve still got Wi-fi, clearly an essential, plus a private pool, AC and washing machine. Phew!
A 12 bed, Aviator Boutique Hotel, Hoedspruit, Limpopo, South Africa, $131
If you aren’t sick of airplanes after the flight over to South Africa, or always dreamed of sleeping in one but can’t afford the $20,000 residence on Etihad (don’t worry, it was fully booked, anyway), then try an overnight stay at the Aerotel near Limpopo. Unlike the other properties on Airbnb, this is a boutique hotel with 12 rooms, not a private residence, though the property is unique enough to warrant an OMG designation. In addition to your private room with en-suite bath, you’ll share a pool, backyard, mountain views, and sundowners and tapas with fellow guests. Fortunately, nobody is stuck sleeping in a middle seat.
