On the surface they look similar, but they actually have many differences that you can learn to spot yourself. This will help give you peace of mind and let you know when it is time to call in a mason to fix a foundation issue you may have.

Signs of a House Settling

All houses settle over time, without exceptions. House settling is caused by the weight of the house sinking into the ground around it. A properly laid concrete foundation helps slow down this process and keeps the stability in check, but it can only delay the inevitable, not prevent it.

One of the key things to understand about a house settling is that it is very gradual. That means that any brick cracking that is caused by a house settling will appear and grow in size and length very slowly.
