What's the consensus on writing 'Why X' statements?

Is it always helpful or can it be harmful if there's no clear message sent?

can be harmful if you regurgitate their website to them

Why X can be helpful if you write a compelling reason

What makes you think that? They said 6-8 weeks did they not

last couple years, first wave has been mid september. Last year they sent decisions on mondays and the first one was 9/18 and this year the same monday is tomorrow

Oh damn okok. I'm Canadian so I haven't been in the loop with American cycles, mainly just Canadians. Fingers crossed for those who applied!

Last year they sent decisions two Mondays in a row then took two weeks off. You never really know because they could change year to year what they do

some applications get a really quick turnaround and some have to wait the 6-8 weeks

Whenever I had a why X law school, I wrote maybe half a page just saying I like the location, I like the programs offered, and I like how the alumni helps each other. Did not waste their time but let them know I didn't really think they were special.

I mean, none of these schools are special. All they are is another way for boomers to steal from the youth and f*ck over society before the party ends on their pathetic ignorant lives of pure consumption.
