Gems are the primary currency in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, used to purchase resources such as card packs and Structure Decks.
Players can hold up to 10,000 free gems, after which any further gems are sent to their mailbox which expire in 30 days. Players can hold up to 99,999 paid gems. Barring this distinction, free and paid gems serve the same purpose.

New Player Tips[edit]
Gems are a valuable resource and it's in everyone's interest to make the most of them. The initial login bonuses shower you with a lot of them but they dry up quickly after the first few weeks of play. For best value:
- Purchase the pack bundles which give 10 Master Packs and a free staple UR for just 750 Gems. You'll get a variety of cards that unlock various Secret Packs, and get important staples (Ash, Lightning Storm, Solemn, Imperm, Droplet, Nibiru) that you'll want in most Decks.
- Three copies of a Structure Deck gets you the contents of a complete Deck for a total of 1500 Gems.
- Dragonmaid-To-Order gets you a decent Dragonmaid Deck that has the components to develop a Dragon Link deck.
- Burning Spirits gets you a Salamangreat Deck that has three copies of Cynet Mining that are crucial to all Cyberse Decks. The extra Deck is mostly complete, just fill out with Accesscode Talker, Update Jammer and Miragestallio.
- Immortal Glory combined with the Heir to the Shiranui-Style structure off Solo Mode can get you a Zombie Synchro Deck. An important craft to finish this Deck is Doomking Balerdroch.
- Vortex of Magic gets you a Dark Magician Deck but you also gain the Magicians' Souls + Illusion of Chaos engine that you can add to other Decks.
- Blackwing's Pride gives you the contents of a comprehensive Blackwing Deck. Important crafts to finish the Deck are Nothung and Full Armor Master.
- The current Selection Packs usually have the most popular cards available, but be aware of the Deck you're trying to build before investing in them.
