Girls Who Invest (“GWI”) is a nonprofit founded in 2015 dedicated to increasing gender diversity and inclusion in investment management with a focus on growing the pipeline of women and gender nonbinary individuals in frontline investing positions. Our vision is to have 30% of the world’s investable capital managed by women by 2030. This goal is in sharp contrast to 2014, a year in which less than 10% of the world’s investable capital was managed by women.
We are changing the face of investing through education, mentoring, internships, and a supportive, motivated community and have reached over 2,500 young people in just eight years. At GWI, we aim to create programs to inspire and support our scholars become tomorrow’s leaders.
GWI enables college students to explore investment management careers through its two tuition-free educational programs. The Summer Intensive Program (SIP) combines in-residence academic training led by top university professors with a guaranteed paid internship at one of more than 120 leading investment management firms. The Online Intensive Program (OIP) is self-directed, virtual, and asynchronous, allowing independent learners the opportunity to develop fundamental finance and investing skills at their own pace through renowned training organizations.
Girls Who Invest’s Alumni Career Institute supports GWI’s over 2,500 alumni as they progress throughout their careers in asset management. To date, 70% of our Summer Intensive Program alumni have remained in the finance industry. Of our alumni, 69% are people of color and come from more than 180 different colleges and universities and have more than 70 distinct majors.
By completing GWI’s rigorous program, talented and motivated scholars will be well prepared to enter the industry across all asset classes including public and private equity, fixed income, credit, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure, and to be skilled allocators of capital.
