Program Overview

Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher education institutions in Korea, both undergraduate and graduate level. The scholarship aims to enhance international education exchange and strengthen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

Qualifications

• Graduate Program

  Scholarship Period	Master's Degree	1 yearLanguage Courses + 2 yearDegree Courses
  	Doctoral Degree	1 year Language Courses + 3 yearDegree Courses
  Qualifications	Applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED designated countries that are invited to take part in the GKS program. * Korean citizens and Koreans holding dual citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program. Applicants must be under the age of 40 as of September 1st of the inviting year. However, an academic professor who are under 45 years of age as of September 1st of the inviting year that also holds a citizenship of one of the Official Development Assistant (ODA) recipients are eligible to apply. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree as of July 31 of the inviting year. * Applicants who have graduated from a high school in Korea or ​have completed an undergraduate program, a master's program, or a doctoral program in Korea are not eligible to apply for the program. (Exception: GKS scholars) Applicants must have maintained the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than 80% in their previous degree program.

  	Associate DegreeProgram	1 year of Korean language course + 2~3 years for associate degree program
  Qualifications	Applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED designated countries that are invited to take part in the GKS program. * Korean citizens and Koreans holding dual citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program. Applicants must be under the age of 25 as of March 1st of the inviting year. Applicants should have graduated from high school. (Please refer to the updated application guidelines for detailed information.) * Applicants who have graduated from high school in Korea applicants who have bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply for the program. Applicants must have maintained the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than 80% in their previous degree program.
